Thanks! I wish I could say they are mine, but unfortunately they are going back to the owner soon. Thankfully he's a super cool guy and offered them up for this video. What a rare oppertunity.

Amazing how lucky you are to get your hands on these engines, what a great reference material. I suspect they were not affordable to buy.

Amazing to think those could be the last two brand new triple motors in the world that ever left the factory. The technicians that put these together would be proud and amazed that they are still unused. Imagine the stories they could tell us. Great video, thank you!!
@PetesClassicCycle
@PetesClassicCycle 7 месяцев назад
It is pretty wild to think of how few of these are actually left. I was very skeptical when I 1st heard of these 2 until I did my research and confirmed with some much smarter triple experts.

Superb. I've got an S2A engined KH250, about as far from stock as you can imagine (1977 KH chassis, 1973 S2A engine, 1976 S1C gearbox!) but I love the fact that you are literally looking back in time to the moment these left the factory as intended. Thank you so much for sharing this and putting the time and effort to create a true reference video. Now I've got to get the Solvol out and polish my end fins!
@PetesClassicCycle
@PetesClassicCycle 7 месяцев назад
Thanks so much! Your bike sounds awesome!! My brother has an S2 that we are collecting parts for to squeeze a bit more power. What is the difference with the S1 gear box?
@Anditover
@Anditover 7 месяцев назад
@@PetesClassicCycle Hi mate, the S Series gearboxes share the same internals and cranks, and back in the day kids on "L" plates used to fit 350 barrels and carbs on their 250s, until the cops got wise and started counting the number of cooling fins. I've had mine since 1990, and it's been a pain but looks and sounds amazing. The 350 is perfect for thrashing too, the engine doesn't overpower the chassis, top speed is a real 93 (red lining). Good luck guys, love the channel. Andy

Nice! I got a NOS S2 350 motor from Rick Bret about 10 years ago. He found it in a dealership that had gone out of business. Its now in my S2. Only done 400 kms and runs perfectly :)

Hi Pete, per the kickstart shaft being zinc plated, is this true for all the triples? Is the H2 shaft zinc plated? Great knowledge here thanks! Started the restoration on my personal H2, the more I know the better! Great Video. Thanks!

I don't know if it is or not... That's the 1st time I ever noticed it, which is why I mentioned it in the video. In all my spare parts I have never seen that before.

where can you get Ned's hydraulic clutch from as the company which you have give details of dont sell them any more .
@PetesClassicCycle
@PetesClassicCycle 6 месяцев назад
The "whole kit" needs to be assembled yourself. The wor kinstruction linked in the video is only meant to be a guide. The ACTUAL slave cylinder which is "Neds" is available through Kawasaki Triples Canada in the Projects Forums, OR through Ian Budge on Facebook which was posted in the Kawasaki Triples Group. If you send me a private message through IG or Facebook I can provide you with direct links and contact info

Back in the early 60s Dennis Dean (Denco chambers) was our Oldsmobile race team president, the Ramblin' Rockets. The man was tuning genius. We set records at every strip we ran.

@@PetesClassicCycle I didn't know it at the time, but later, (much later) I learned that Dennis had a master's degree in acoustics.. That would explain why he was so successful at designing expansion chambers. At the time he was working at an electronic access control company.

It is interesting they both have sprocket covers from '74 model year, as that is when they started doing it. At least they did appear on the 500 H1E with rubber engine mounts too. I can't be totally sure about S series, but suspect it would have happened the same year due to legislation.
@PetesClassicCycle
@PetesClassicCycle 7 месяцев назад
There are a couple interesting things with these. If these were made after all the 1973 bikes it's very possible that kawasaki was already stocking parts shelves with '74 stuff and some made it onto these

Triple engines don't have manifolds - they have spigots. A manifold, is a completely different thing.

Yes, technically you're right. But the parts is most commonly referred to as the intake manifold ir very least "inlet-pipe" as per the parts manual
