Such a beautiful soul... for her being the blueprint to all these new age pop stars she is so humble. Missing Persons and Dale Bozzio were so ahead of their time in every aspect of the music industry.
she's still the best-there's-ever-been, thanks to that band, them songs, and that voice and that soul she sang from , man...forgetabout it, jackie-chan~
There's a bit of that bawhstin accent but the rest...where the hell did she come up with the rest of that ? it's strange...Love her but never understood what she was trying to sound like in her speaking voice.
My roommate here in Montreal, he has family in Boston- his female cousin who is in her 60s talks just like Dale, except not so high scale ..Dale's speaking voice is on a level all her own..Kind of like Tina Turner IN A WAY..Tina comes from Tennessee but her speaking voice and how she talks sometimes you would never know, she has her own dialect, that I could never quite figure out, but it suits her.
Coasterdude02149 man it sounds like Boston mixed with that old 1930’s Hollywood transatlantic accent. If she was a fan of Judy Garland like she said on the video, that’s probably where she picked up some of her vocal mannerisms.
Loved her in the 80's, she was unique and there wasn't anyone like her, but rarely did I get the chance to hear her speak her mind like this: fantastic interview!!! Love her even more : GIVE!
What an incredible story. I would have listen to Zappa too. He was a genuis. Terry Bozzio is an underestimated genius drummer. Dale definately broke alot of ice for people like Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani to name a few. She is so cool. very creative and from Boston too. That is icing on the cake. Dale was the Marily Monroe of new wave and punk rock. I can totally see her idolizing Judy Garland.
I'm still in love with Dale! Lately I've been listening to Missing persons while driving on my way to gigs. I think they were too good to have a string of top 40 hits. More innovative and less commercial than the rest of the bands from the 80s.
my mother made us all watch wizard of oz every year for so long.. love that movie, and heres a great trivia thing for you, if you look at first scene where dorothy meets the traveling salesman before the tornado,, he's wearing a coat... they bought that coat that day from a thrift shop,, and there was a piece of paper in one of the pockets with the name lf baum on it.... imagine that...
Amazing Dale got to see the legendary Judy Garland. Dale is also a legend and a pioneer for future female vocalists. I think she may have influenced Cindy Laupers high squeaks. I know she surely influenced me while I was a young teen. I loved listening to this interview and her early history and inspirations. I can hear her Boston accent. Love it.
I'm a huge fan of Dale Bozzio and Missing Persons. just love her. she is a ahead of her time, her style was so unique and creative I just loved it and always will.
Dale, You probably will never see this but MP was the first band I ever attended. Sunrise musical theatre is sunrise Florida. That was one of the best band ever. You rocked then and you continue to rock.
Fantastic Interview ! Great Questions ! Great Guest ! She is utterly genuine ! - The common thread you’ll find with ppl like Shaq, Howard Stern, Taylor Swift, Dale Bozzio and others is their ability to simply push everyone out of the way and simply get it done. There is no secret sauce like Dale explained. You either have what it takes to succeed...or you don’t. Like Dale said...”when ppl say no, she turns it into a yes”...How did she do it? By force of will! It’s that simple for those who simply will not fail !!!
Lady GAGA should bow at her feet.....Dale is the original Lady GAGA... just watch her old videos..she was a goddess and just pure genius... watch her videos and see for yourself...it will knock your socks off.... Lady GAGA should be ashamed of herself
Awwwh!! No frkn way The Susie..me cookies!!! Love you☆ StephopalOpal aka Big Mama New Orleans Louisiana music and Peace and ASMR attempts...Have a spectacular Magnificent creative day!! Love ya!!
her mole on her face is a prop? whod a thought.. I can so hear this same voice, as the US Festival live concert here on youtube. She took 2x polaroid and threw 1 into the audience.
Be still my heart forever You always remain so clever Within Everlasting message of 1... with you forgiveness and belief only love has just begun.. my daughter will be at freshman in high school this Wednesday I will keep your grounded believes close to my heart God bless
She is awesome! I love how she is old school Boston. She never lost her accent after all these years. I remember her father had her photo in the window of his business where I grew up. He was one proud papa.
Oh gosh... I do love the person she is. She speaks so nicely of Terry. I hope that he speaks of her the same. I was a Zappa fan, still am and I always thought they were such a great couple. Both of them CUTE af! Of course I also love Missing Persons still to this day! Though I don't know them personally, (but man... I wish I did,) they both seem like great, hard working people, also above all.. loving and caring people. Gosh.. And so talented! I have followed their careers extensively always attracted to their talents, and of course Dale's style and her knack for creating the things she wore on stage. Gutsy, tiny woman with so much originality and man.. nobody could tip he look. Female artists still copy that to this day! Timeless, quintessential example of being on the cutting edge of her wild style! Years ahead of her female entertainment counterparts. Really she isn't getting enough credit for just being herself. All kids that study music as I have all of my life, her name should be on the lips of every young chick in this new generation aspiring to be music entertainers. And Terry... my, my, MY! I do keep up with his work. Man... He was something else when he and Dale were both in Zappa's Mothers. He is another of those musicians that should be thought of as one he'll of a percussionist, and song writer! He should be thought if and mentioned as much as Moon, Bonham, Baker, and all the great drummers who came out of the legendary, kick ass, rock bands. Doesn't recieve near the acclaim and accolades he should be getting and should have all along! Just look at him kick ass on that beast of a drum kit he has built! Every band he has ever had a part in, the projects he has worked on during his career, you can hear his unique style thunder through in a way that you KNOW without a doubt it is him even if he was just sitting in. Great studio musician, his technique is one of a kind and I don't think anyone could emulate him. Honestly, I just do not think it could be done. When I say he is like Gonzo, Keith, and Ginger, I mean he is just one of those percussionist of that fine class that no one could imitate or replace. A good example can be found in watching him playing in Zappa's band. PUNKY'S WHIPS.. look at him go! Double kicks on blast, singing, hanging on to the mic with one hand and killin' it! And he is STILL killin' it. He is in his mid 60's now and I can NOT believe how great he still is. Any drummers out there reading this, he is one drummer you should add to the list of all time greatest drummers to study. He does have a website and sells books, dvd's and all that jazz. He also sells drums, cymbals, sticks, and I think he even sells kits like his monster kit. You have got to look at that thing if you have never seen it. I swear... It is the largest kit you have probably ever seen. I'm done here. Just had to rave about Dale and Terry. Terry seems like a great guy too. I have heard people say that he has an ego issue and all that crap, bit from everything I have EVER studied about him, he is a great, giving, caring person who does so much. I think some of the proceeds of the money he makes off his merch and stuff gets donated to Saint Jude's Children's hospital. Hard working guy.
Isn't it super great that she speaks so well of Terry? Shows her love & strength. Glad2 know how loving she sounded. I had my thoughts that it was a tough relationship just from those middle songs on US 83 set. Windows and it ain't none of your business... I love those lyrics & how she sang it live. Awesome stuff & always fresh sounding
I missed the entire missing person scene Tragic but into the band now refreshing all the sounds And Terry was on drums ???? He is a monster with Zappa band . Watching him solo is frightening . Always a Frank Zappa fan A missing person fan now for life So great
Accent is a little off, she's accentuating certain words like "are" to seem posh, not that that's bad but a true person from "Medfa" would catch it...like me 👁
Darryl Cole she brought in stray cats and left a friend to look after them while she toured in maybe...2010? And the friend neglected the cats and a lot of them died. So she did some time or a hefty fine or both. Something like that
