They’re the questions that have long ruffled the feathers of pigeon racers - where do the birds go when they fly and why don’t some ever make it home?
The latter is a question some fliers say is being asked more and more in recent years.
Numerous theories abound, especially whether mobile phone tower signals interfere with the birds’ navigational sense.
Rob Vanderveen, from Cairns in Far North Queensland, has raced pigeons for the past six years, drawn to the sport due to his fascination with animals and their behaviour.
He too has pondered these questions which are oft-debated between fliers.
