Thanks Cap, this is where ED should be giving you the recognition you deserve (along with the tireless 'promotion' of their software). Sure Sir Wagner is great at showing the "new and shiny", but I have yet to see anything from ED about their mission / campaign editor (correct me if I'm wrong here). I believe this has been 'calculated' to benefit Eagle Dynamics; if there is little in the way of supporting documentation (including videos), they stand to make more money selling campaigns to those who are confused by the Mission Editor. They seem to forget that most success stories are wrought from communities that are given every chance to engage with the 'title' (DCS) and create great content alongside that of the developer's 'fare'. A good example of this would be the FA-18 "Mission of the week", they just need people to educate the "how", and I'm certain more Mission / Campaign content would be available from a dedicated community.

@@grimreapers Put ArmA III in the same category - using mission editors require study, most people do not have the attention span of Cap and the others. More power to him and them.....I can't believe DCS/ED have not handed over the F-15 to the lad yet. Me? Looking forward to the F-16 and Mosquito..... Best, Pete.

If you want to do it realistic Cap (for an Mission) you set the tacan Channel to 74. 🤗

The John C. Stennis and the Carl Vinson, are both Nimitz class super carriers. REALLY helpful video, making things more enjoyable in dcs

They are being replaced by the Ford Class. CVN 78 the Gerald R. Ford can carry 90+ aircraft. There are no restrictions on launching from 4 catapults (unlike the Nimitz Class). It includes the first non-steam catapult which is electro-magnetic and works using the same technology as "railguns". Prof. Eric Laithwaite must be smiling somewhere..... Best, Pete.

Carl Vinson doesn't work properly for take-off / launching (at least not with the Heatblur F-14B). Tested it numerous times and splashed every time. Have to use Stennis for take-off for Tomcats.

I have a problem when I lunch dcs I can’t directly click on stuff with the mouse. I have to click slightly to the left in order to launch missions etc. Is a pain in the butt when I am in flight. I tried repairing the game and it only corrects it momentarily. It only happens when I launch dcs. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve also tried deleting and re downloading the game. Is a pain in the butt with high fidelity aircraft. if anyone can help I will appreciate it 🦊

TACAN (Tactical air navigation) is a system that's used to get distance (if you're T/R, trasmiting and receiving, otherwise no distance is shown) and bearing to anything that has TACAN such as aircraft carriers, tankers, airfields, other fighters... ICLS is pretty much a carrier ILS (Instrument Landing System) which guides you all the way to landing which is used in low visibility. You can go the Grim Reapers channel (or wherever I guess) and search TACAN or ICLS tutorial of any aircraft to see how they play out

@@DavidGPT thanks for the cool info,, but please a question,what do you have to set it up in mission editor so you can actually land on carriers,,i mean with the arrest cable?? i placed an active carrier in my mission editor just for some practice,,but every time i try to land (with hook down) the cables dont seem to work,,,what am i doing wrong? cheers

There are many excellent videos about Case 1 landing a Hornet. Im sure you would find them informative. There is a lot that can go wrong and cause one to miss the wire. And of course...practice.
