Synthesia Composer I’ve spent so much time practicing playing in 5 that it’s almost like playing in 4. But not quite that easy.

You certainly do make it look easy! But I suppose 5 and 7 would be the easiest odd time signatures to master. 9, 11, 13 and so on, those get pretty insane...

I've heard a song in 17/8 before... It was jazz of course.

Time signature-wise, the craziest song would have to be Dance of Eternity. But it's not jazz. Improvising over a rhythm is a whole different thing than playing a written out melody.

@@gabethebabe8187 You don't know much about the Bossa Nova, do you? I even wrote out the rhythm for you! (Each bar being two longs followed by two shorts...) Of course, you THINK it is different to a Bossa, because of the heavy driving nature of its delivery, but underneath the rhythm is the SAME. In fact, that was the whole point of my posting... and you took the bait. :-) However, it took a whole week for the first response that took issue with my comment to appear, so maybe most people recognised the truth. The Mission Impossible theme is written in a 5/4 rhythm that happens to be the underlying metre of the Bossa Nova.... (and the classic telephone bell ring).

effyleven sure it has the same underlying rhythm, that is pretty much a fact. That doesn’t immediately make it a bossa nova. One of the biggest elements of a bossa is the amount of silence that can happen in the melody. Bossa composers also describe the feel of a bossa should be peaceful and calming. This tune does not fall under that category. (Btw I was the first one to reply to ur comment, not cuz I was the first one to disagree, but because I was literally the first one to see it, I can guarantee it lmao)

@@gabethebabe8187 The whole discussion is about what *rhythm* makes a Bossa, whether you play it gently on a guitar, or smack it down hard in the bass register of a piano... ... or ring it from a telephone bell. (But then, I think you realise that now.)
