​​@@MartinBlackstarGomezou're right that man worked with great stars like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman and Paul Newman and also filmmakers like Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick that's why he has the passion to do great movies in quality and I wish to see him working with Christopher Nolan or Martin Scorsese again after Color of the money or even James Cameron. Imagine what Tom Cruise would do with James Cameron if they worked and how much they could get at the box office.

THANK YOU. I thought I was going mad. There's a lot of reviewers on RU-vid that have an axe to grind with Lucasfilm that they are artificially bumping this movie up. I love the previous instalments (3-6) of this franchise, but the new movie was tonally off, overly long, ponderous at times (so much exposition) and the comedy was like nails on a chalkboard. How on Earth did they go so far off here?? The car chase, without music and full of Marvel humour, and an anime chick villain was the real low point. The next movie is going to have to do some serious work to justify this entry

I have more... I went into this with hopeful expectations coming off the back of 3 tremendously good, smart action films filled with trickery and invention. This film seemed to throw most of that out in favour of goofy comedy and a 'run and gun' laziness. That stuff should always be considered the last resort in a spy film. Hopefully this is just the set up before the payoff in the final film. An hour could have easily been trimmed from this film as most exposition scenes went on forever, case in point being the opening meeting between the Intelligence chiefs. It was about 10 minutes long but could have been reduced to 2-3 minutes without any loss whatsoever. Don't make a 2 parter if you don't have enough material to fill it up. Longer doesn't always mean better, nor does it make it more epic. The thief character slipped away from Ethan 3 times... that's 2 times too many just to extend the plot. The only particularly strong part of this film was the AI trickery screwing up their missions - something I think could have been executed better but the idea was good. I felt the main villain was ridiculous. We're they deliberately playing him like we were to suspect he might be an android or something? The idea he was linked to Ethan's past was out of nowhere. The film would arguably been better without him or the anime girl and just stuck to rival governments. The next film needs to give Gabriel some understandable motive and explanation why the AI chose him and why he knows so much or is even involved at all.
