Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning train crash stunt, filmed in Derbyshire England. A detailed look at the steam train, the film set and the surrounding area & what the crash site looks like now in 2023, 2 years on from the stunt. This is a timeline of events that led up to the big day when they drove the replica full-size steam train off a 200ft cliff for the final crash scene in Tom Crusie's latest blockbuster film. The locomotive flies through the air in spectacular style before crashing into the quarry below. The train was built specifically for the film & resembles a BR Britannia and has been named Le General Rive-Reine which relates to the 1964 war film 'The Train'.

Does anybody know why they built an accurate 1:1 scale model of a BR Britannia, only to give it Royal Scott style smoke deflectors, valances and a fictitious French identity? I get the film references in the name… but it makes no sense. They’d have done better to make a French loco as used in the Burt Lancaster movie ‘The Train’. The other oddity is the pair of coaches which look like modern rolling stock; not like any Orient Express vehicles currently used. These were also built for the movie; incredible production value but odd choices; why go to all that expense and not make it look correct?

@@biffsmallberries5344- yes we know this. What’s really intriguing is is WHY make an accurate Britannia only to doll it is as something fictional ?
