Welcome to the first episode of one of the most ambitious long-term projects on this channel, where we cross every crossing of the River Thames by public transport, including bridges, tunnels, railways, ferries and more, starting from the Thames Estuary in the east towards its source in the Cotswolds.
Today we start at the far eastern part of the Thames, from Thurrock and Kent and gradually make our way westwards towards central London. This video includes many unique crossings including a bus on a motorway, a well underused ferry service and a very expensive rail link...
Join me in this video, months in the planning, where we slowly make our way to completing this challenge and explore many interesting methods of public transport along the way.

It is with sadness that Jetstream Tours announced that it would be ceasing operations of its Tilbury to Gravesend ferry in March 2024, after Thurrock and Kent County Council decided that the ferry was no longer financially viable to subsidise due to rising costs. It's a huge shame to see the only ferry link between the two counties cease. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the ferry, as did many members of the community, who may very well have lost a reasonable commute to their job or shopping centre. The removal of this ferry service means that anyone travelling from Essex to Kent will have to rely solely on the frequently congested (and tolled) Dartford Crossing, adding over an hour to journey times between the two towns.
