A Mississauga woman says she was advised to use an insurance app that would lower her premiums. Instead, they went up. Reporter Pam Seatle has her frustrating story.
Insurance companies are in the business of making money not paying out or discounts. They also suggested that I do the same and called them out on there gps phone scams insurance app if I had to do defensive driving would I be penalized??? Yes I would
I had the TD My Advantage app with TD insurance. I've had that app for two years but to my surprise my premium has gone up this year. I call them and they say the app has reported only 100 km whereas the minimum is 1000 km to be eligible. I kept telling them that the app not working is probably an issue with the app otherwise how is it even possible to drive only 100 km! They didn't buy it. I'm now considering switching to the Personal.
I don't like how Pam Seatle was so aggressive in this piece. For a reporter she should do more research on the topics she reports on. It's obvious she has no idea what she's talking about. Very unprofessional.
Absolutely Agree Alex. It is unfortunate how this report is just there to rile up the uneducated.. companies can always raise and lower rates.. it happens every year with every company.. just be glad we live in Ontario and are able to shop our insurance rather than just have one option like ICBC
Bring in government car insurance into Ontario.Model it on the Quebec government insurance system .Quebec has the lowest cost car insurance costs in Canada.Accidents have been trending lower for years in Ontario but rates keep going up? Canadian insurance companies refuse to have depreciation coverage of your newer car if accidented? There are also no lemon laws in Canada,a manufacturer set up system to resolve disputes if you have major issues with your car is used in Canada. As the manufacturers pay for and control the process how do you think that works for the consumer? We need various provincial governments to get off their butts and look at these issues to protect consumers.
