My great-grandfather and grandfather and my father where river boat Pilots I'm 87 now and my days are reaching shallow water When I close my eyes and hold my breath I see the river it's the most wonderful place that God has ever created for mankind the stories it can tell are timeless
Another great video! The time lapse radar is a neat addition. I was a tow boater some time back, loved every minute of that job! Maybe some day I'll get to do it again! Keep up the great work Kyle!
Great video Mark if you ever on the River near Helena Harbor and Old Town Bend Blow at me alot of those boats around there at Scoular know me from just being out on the water in my 10ft Jon boat fishing and filming
Thank you for the inspiration. Just bought a cabin north of Prairie Du Chien on the bluffs, watched a tug pushing off the deck last weekend. It was a pretty day
Love the videos. I'd like to one day make the jump to bigger tows. Not enough excitement with small tows. I would really like to see a video of you flanking 81 in high river. Stay safe.
How deep does the section get passing through Vicksburg? It was always incredibly turbulent there at flood stage, and I always wondered it's depth near the bridges.
hello capt kyle glad to see you on the water again, great video. could you tell me something about the george strait. i like to look the boat up and get the imformation about the boats your on but could not find any about this boat. odislewis
When waiting your turn do you pull out and move down a little way and pull over again and repeat until you go through? There was 7 boats in front of you I wondered if you pull over and back out 7 times or just move once.
Love ur videos... my best friend was just killed at Marsalis lock & damn wensday around 230 pm .. wire busted and hit him in the face and force broke his neck in 2 places.. he worked for Illinois inland marine
Captain, I have a question for you. I canoed the entire length of the Mississippi and passed hundreds of these barges on the way. I had always wondered how a canoe shows up on the radar. Does it register as just as a log would or other piece of debris or do you even notice it without a visual? Also, many times at night the spotlight from a tow would light up my tent in the middle of the night. Do you guys scan the shore at night for navigation purposes? Thanks. Like watching your videos also.
nickadams7 Canoe shows up on radar, but you are right, it looks the same as a log or other drift. Getting a visual is really only way too tell the difference. When there is a lot of drift, it not only is dangerous for canoe because of risks of you getting hit by a large piece of drift, but unless visual confirmation, a canoe blends in with drift, on radar. As far as searchlight at night, it could be anything from a fella a looking for a place to stop, to just being curious and checking out your tent.
