A 50x speed timelapse of travelling up the Mississippi River from Lansing Iowa to Saint Paul Minnesota.
This trip was made on a 42ft Gibson houseboat from the 1980s. It took 4 days in total, covering about 170 miles and going through 7 locks.
There are a few gaps in the video where the GoPro overheated, sorry about that!

Lived in Prairie du Chien 20 years ago. Than in Lansing and now live in Lacrosse but from Boston I work on boats for a living and practically live on the water right here in Lacrosse. Love the content. New sub. I took a houseboat from Lansing up here to Lacrosse and it was a two-day trip I stopped in Brownsville than finished in AM. And Genoa didn't have you waiting on did they

I love it. I want to take that boat from Raspberry Island down to New Orleans. That would be a blast! Maybe after you sort out some of her issues though. :)

150 miles ( about ) • 4 days ( 10 hours a day ) = 37.5 miles per day = 3.75 mph average not factoring in wait time at locks and fueling time and other non-travel activities ! Now fuel is another story 150 miles and 150 gallons = 1 mpg and at $5 per gallon = $750 for fuel ⛽️! This trip was kinda expensive but indeed a once in a lifetime event for most people !

The fuel might be in the ballpark, I think it was more on the gallons per hour side than miles per gallon! We did occasionally get the boat going 15mph but the average was certainly not fast.

The music is irritating - not reflective of a peaceful river voyage ; truly we love boat stories...not something akin to passing a kidney stone. Had to click away. (south Florida).
