There were a LOT of female rappers in the 90's. Da Brat was the fist female solo rapper to sell a million albums in the US in 1994. In these music videos, there's often cameos people don't notice.

That funny guy in the hat at the beginning is Timothy Zachary Mosley, AKA Timbaland, co producer and co songwriter with longtime collaborator Missy E. Samples Run-DMC among other songs... this song was the bomb, shot to #2 on the charts as soon as it was released, her biggest hit at that time (2002)

Missy Elliott is an extremely talented, innovative creator. I LOVE her work! As far as I'm concerned she can do no wrong. Her videos are always different. Sista can sing, rap, write, produce, direct.... a renaissance woman. And she is looking amazing after all she has gone through with illness. Yes, she was such an original! I first saw her on David Letterman, before she was big, and I just about shot out of my chair! Missy is brilliant, so avant garde, WAY ahead of her time. Video concepts and songs are pure art.

I love yalls missy reactions. The first video I saw from Missy was “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” and I was an instant fan. It’s more laid back in terms of beat but it definitely is smooth and creative.
