You have heard Stevie's voice before, for sure, because she's with Fleetwood Mac, and you listened to their song "The Chain" just the other day. Personally, I think she has the most unique voice in rock. So raspy and gorgeous. I think you would enjoy hearing her duet with Tom Petty called "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." He's another music legend with an unmistakable voice.

Not just Mick Fleetwood, the Mac part of the name is for John McVie. But the band only had limited success until Nicks/Buckingham joined. Six of the seven studio albums released featuring Nicks/Buckingham reached the US Billboard Top Ten. Three of those reached number one. The one to not reach the top ten, peaked at number eighteen.

They are all creative people and channeled their feelings of passion into music.... imagine your husbands mistress is in your band and you are singing a song about how she feels about it. . You should listen to “ landslide” by Stevie. One of my all time favorite songs.

I started playing at age 10, and "Landslide" was the first song I taught myself to sing and play together when I was 12. The meaning is for John Lennon’s sudden death and the death of her uncle in a 2 month period of time. Nicks spoke about the "white-winged dove" and what this song means to her: "It became a song about violent death, which was very scary to me because at that point no one in my family had died. To me, the white-winged dove was for John Lennon the dove of peace, and for my uncle it was the white-winged dove who lives in the saguaro cactus - that's how I found out about the white-winged dove, and it does make a sound like whooo, whooo, whooo. I read that somewhere in Phoenix and thought I would use that in this song. The dove became exciting and sad and tragic and incredibly dramatic. Every time I sing this song I have that ability to go back to that two-month period where it all came down. I've never changed it, and I can't imagine ending my show with any other song. It's such a strong, private moment that I share in this song."

In the summer my wife and I go out to a friend's house on some weekends to sit in the backyard and just listen to the music we grew up on, from 1960's to 1980's. We're all in our 50's and we've been friends since we were little kids. We reminisce and talk about the music, and the memories it inspires, around a fire once it gets dark. We go into the wee hours just enjoying this.

Okay, where do I begin... Let me preface that I just fell upon this video because I was listening to Lissie covering Stevie songs. Now, I have been in the music business since 1985 right around Stevie's first solo album Bella Donna breaking away from World Icon group Fleetwood Mac. I have met her a few times, I lived across the street from her friend and iconic singer Tom Petty on A1A south of St Augustine Florida, in St.Johns/Flagler county line. Let me just say YES it is refreshing to have young black men open minded enough to give this a chance, which that was meant with more leaning on "Young" more than "black". White, brown, purple, should have as much forethought as the both of you. NOW, what was amazing was the wording you used as the song progressed. You both nailed it, with the exception of perhaps Haunting as the feeling of her singing. So I applaud your open mind which we should ALL have more of in every aspect of life. Next, I feel you have a certain future in music, perhaps as a talent scout, however I plead with you to go out of your perhaps comfort zone and keep your option open because your inert and guttural feelings and descriptions were spot on and know for a fact were almost verbatim of her first solo management and advisor, the iconic and famous Jimmy Iovine. BTW, Destiny's Child is a huge fan of Stevie and they collaborated when sampling the intro for this very song for their hit Bootilicious, which Stevie makes a cameo in the video. Like one other commenter stated, Stevie is the only female ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, though I agree there should be several more beside her, but Fleetwood Mac I believe has the number two or three album sales of all time for their album Rumors. Anyway, I applaud your format and your uncanny timeless wording in describing Stevie on your inaugural listening. I am now a fan of YOURS and look forward to be entertained by you. Stick with it, you have a underlying inert, unexpected and timeless ear with which I hope you do not pigeon hole yourself into what people think you should excel in, obviously urban/hip-hop/rap music. Times they are a changing, for the good, the bad and the mediocre and I love to be surprised, I despise stereotypes of all types, simply because commonality and timing. If ten years from now the AA community hated rap, then I would push for them to excel in it, as I like to be different. I never understood why it took so many decades for African American singers to enter the country music genre as Charlie Pride did back in the 70s. Perhaps you should check out his albums from back in the day, with his number one hit, Kiss an Angel Good Morning...again, his name is Charlie Pride. Good luck and God bless ya both. Just adding to the story of “Stand Back”: Stevie called Prince ON HER WEDDING NIGHT and asked him to meet her at the studio to record the synth track on the song; Prince was there for less than 30 min, and did not want to be credited for his contribution, but he did agree to a 50/50 split of the royalties from the song.

So nice that young men your age are enjoying Stevie Nicks! An absolute icon! A very unique voice. One note sang and you know it's her! She was one of the lead singers from fleetwood Mac ( the chain) this was her first solo after she left the band. She writes all her own songs too. So talented. Fun fact... Her given name is Stephanie Lynn Nick's but as a child she couldn't say her name. It came out Stevie and it just stuck. Try the Rhiannon live from a music show called the Midnight Special. That show was on every Friday night at midnight through the 70s. Had all the great groups of the time. She is singing it with the group she was in called Fleetwood Mac.

@may nobles She wrote this about the death of her uncle and the death of John Lennon. If you search the internet, it’s referenced in a number of areas including the original interview. When she says “there was no one left standing in the hall” it is because she and her brother were the only ones in the room when her uncle died and she thought the family should know and she ran out to the hall to get them and they were all gone and she was overwhelmed with emotion and loss.
@marynobles4363
@marynobles4363 4 года назад
My comment was about the title of the song, the Edge of Seventeen, not the meaning of the song. Stevie Nicks shared that in an interview. How she came up with the title of the song is different than the meaning of the song.
@silassongs779
@silassongs779 4 года назад
Yes, a tiny mishearing, where Tom's wife said "age of", and Stevie thought she heard "edge of", and this simple "mistake" inspired one of the most popular Rock songs of all time from Stevie's first solo album without Fleetwood Mac. Her alliteration is phenomenal, especially in this song. Making several words in a single sentence manage not just to rhyme, but to gracefully *flow* with the melody places her musical "poetry", IMO, up very near that of the great American poet, Edgar Allan Poe (but without the overwhelming sadness).

Hahaha she was inducted to the Rock and Roll hall of fame with Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and as a Solo artist last year. One of my all time fave musicians and I was lucky enough to see her live a few years ago here in Perth, Western Australia. Awesome reaction, thank you!!! Btw.. I subscribed when y'all had 50k subscribers.. amazing what you've done to get where you both are now. Great job and always a pleasure to watch your vids.

Stevie was inspired by the chord changes in Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” and wrote “Stand Back” in response....Prince came into the session and plays the keyboards uncredited on the hit.

You guys dancing to a song I grew up with and I’m old. Awesome. I’ve seen them in concert 3 times. Lucky I live close to a great venue In Sacramento California. She is in the hall of fame. Lots of back stories to this band. But they still perform today. Good job guys. You have an ear for music for SURE ! ❤️

There is a reason they call her the “white witch.” She entrances you with her voice and movements. Love Stevie Nicks.
