Heavy duty pallets set on concrete blocks at the bottom with ordinary pallets for the sides and rear..good airflow in the best location is essential for drying logs..
You gotta think outside the box. Utilize the Japanese method and burn the floor. So even when it rains, the floor is water resistant. Lather the wood with motor oil for additional resistance - no one should be operating fire near this log storage anyways so no need to worry unless your near the equator.
Seems no matter how well something is planned mistakes can still be made. 100% agree with you on the location of the woodshed. Every bit of sun helps. My own woodshed isn’t quite south facing but with all the sun we’ve had this last month I’ve a full shed of birch dried (or very nearly) that was only split at the end of February
Great plan, I'm leaving the floor as flexible at the moment, modular might be a better description! Lol I'm hoping I can get some plastic pallets , if not heavy duty ones will do
I planned my woodshed 2.0, still needed to add an extra prop to hold up the tiled roof (wife made me use tiles) as it started to sag. Also had to add a partition to make stacking easier. Didn’t add a gutter at the back but that’s never been a problem. You never get it right first time!
Trial and error, yep that's how it's done that way what ever project in future, it is a better job in the end. But your wood shed is better than mine, all I have is big tarps 😅
