Omar's Licia deck never ceases to impress me with just how much work it does and how quickly it can gain life (from 16 to almost 40 within the space of a turn cycle or two is mightily impressive). Also good to see Mistform's return, especially after I tried and failed to make a list for him that I was satisfied with.

Yea I think the sac'ing of the lands is part of the resolution of the spell, not part of the casting cost, so he'd have to wait to draw.

True, but was it relevant? I don't think anyone had any knowledge of his library's order from any scry or fateseal type effects. So either way he was drawing from a shuffled library. It's like not shuffling in between copies of Mind's Desire.

Just to share, when Thespian's Stage try to copy Dark Depths the best play is let it do it, then the controler sac the depths with counters and when the Depths w/o counter trigger to sac itself you can destroy it (in this case ghost quarter) and make him loss both lands.

Though in this specific case it would give Scott another 5/3 from Titania. Not sure if that makes Andrew's play worth it though.

@@apeiffer670 True, but when you consider the deck is about reanimating and sac'ing lands, the E-wit next turn and getting the Merrit Lage anyway seemed like the likely outcome of destroying the DD instead of the Stage with 0 counters on trigger.

That Seat of the Synod turn 2 should enter the battlefield tapped, right, because of Blind Obedience? Not that it did anything this game, but it should be noted.

Also, it looks as if Scott on turn 8 created the Elementals and drew the cards BEFORE searching his library. The effect on the game probably is minimal, but you know, him thinning the deck before drawing might or might not have changed something.

Just to ask, with blind obedience in the battlefield, synod should'nt have entered tapped? Since its an artifact. ( i know this doesn't affect in anything in this game, but stilll...)

The lycia deck link shows to have two copies of toxic deluge. It obviously didnt matter in this game but it is relevant overall if it actually does have two deluges

Looking through Omar's decklist... does he really play Licia over Karlov just for Dockside? I mean, sure, Licia has Lifelink natively, but... meh? Karlov grows a LOT faster (he quite often turns into Voltron without even trying^^), and has exile-removal built in... and he starts off costing less than you could ever get Licia down to as well...

Muddstah refuses to draw multiple cards off of Rhystic study so as not to hand out treasure... then mentions how he missed out on top decking Venser. Well, maybe you should draw cards off the spell you played that lets you draw cards. Just a thought for the future.

It's hard to balance when drawing is good with a Smothering Tithe out. Omar had a decent hand, a draw engine, and a ton of life. I feel like if I drew as many cards as I could have, I'd have given him the game.

@@MTGMuddstah - I respect that, but Rhystic study is played for a reason. You are mono blue. While draw-go is bad in commander, a major strength of your color are emergency buttons like counter spells and bounce. That should keep you from auto-losing many games. Remember the song, "Don't fear the Reaper"? Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain. Common Muddstah, we can be like they are. Take more cards into your hand and don't fear the reaper. Your creatures can fly, don't fear the reaper. Play to win. Don't play not to lose. :)

Taking out Licia was very bad threat assessment. The Mistform deck was left alone after drawing so many cards, it was a no brainer that he would have a response to kill him. Mistform should of been the one to attack in that game.
