Thank you for watching, liking, commenting, and subscribing!
Today I am comparing the original MISTI stamping tool to the new stamping tool by Diamond Press. I put the DP Tool through all the same challenges as the MISTI so you can compare apples to apples and decide which tool works best for you. Currently, it is sold as an ACCESSORIES BUNDLE, but hopefully it will be sold on its own.
If you have any questions, please leave them in the chat. I love to connect with crafty people 😆

Great review! I think the Misti is waaaayyy too expensive so have never purchased one

It’s a stamping game changer but yes, it’s very expensive. I am glad the DP platform will allow you to do much of the same things as the Misti for a more affordable price. ❤️

Very detailed comparison. Helpful helpful helpful. It's a few months since your posting & HSN has not dropped the price. I did a net search on price options and that's how I found this review. So to date not down to 25 and still holding at 35ish and a bit more if you don't find a free shipping day or option. However it still remains a great contender in the running. I also like that you can slip longer paper into the DP press. I work with full 8.5 x 11 paper & so sometimes I have over lap. I also enjoy doing out of the box designs such as 11"x11" even 12" x 12" and that means sometimes designing with thought out study as to the lay out of stamps to fit when these are folded say for an ever-turning card. I made my own pucks a year ago in various sizes using hocky air pucks and glue on felt furniture floor moving felts. Worked well and gifted a set to neighbor too. I found the smaller puck was easier to use and also worked into corners and edges perhaps better which is one reason I suspect the DP press was maybe more favorable in your hands too being a little smaller than your original. I have 3 presses including the WRmemories and an earlier Tim Holtz folding one similar to these demonstrated here. I'm in search of simpler and less complicated and fewer parts. Turns out I am not a fan of magnets with these to keep paper from slipping. I discovered I forget where to apply the sticky mat to use in stead and love that. So many different in expensive sizes available by order or at the dollar like stores. So I also buy the generic large ones for cricut or other digital cutting machines which are very inexpensive often have the grids and can be cut beautifully to fit. If too sticky you can pat it out to be less tacky and also as you point out you can re-apply tacky. I assume after you clean the mat first but maybe when used here that's not as important as you are not cutting into it. Anyway a top tutorial that is just lovely and well done. Look forward to watching more. PS I have been searching for that Hero Mountain set of stamps that layer for a while now. So far discontinued and haven't nailed one yet. I'm searching new and used via the net. Thank you again & been on the fence about this press. You convinced me of it's virtues and all of them even misti has it's short falls.

@lasinmt106 I have not seen HSN sell it by itself & it’s not on the DP site. I think it’s still a good value especially if you don’t have any of the accessories. I have continued using it behind the scenes & it is a great little tool. It does what I need it to. You’re right. Since it doesn’t have a side lip you can use larger paper that sticks out if you wanted to. Thanks so much for your comments! 🥰

Wonder how long it will be until My Sweet Petunia (makers of misti) sues the makers of this stamp press as theyve done that and taken many other stamping platforms off the market.

I have the 2 sizes of the Stamp Press stamping tool. I got them at Walmart in Victoria British Columbia Canada. The other brands are way too expensive for my budget. I also don’t buy everything by big name brands. I love these 2 stamping tools. 😊❤️🇨🇦

Thank you so much for this review!! The Diamond Press tool kit is now $29.99 and they have a new customer discount of $10 off. I was able to get it for $26.98 total with shipping and tax. I'm so stoked. I've only really started stamping and I found myself frustrated with the lack of competition to the Misti in the US.

Great review -- thank you! I ordered two (one for a friend). I do own a Misti, TH Platform, and Stamparatus. I rotate using them depending on the project. I create a whole lot of cards and some specialty paper projects. Anyway, I purchased this Diamond Press to place in my travel/emergency craft tote loaded with the basics. This way, if I lose or forget it, I won't beat myself up because it's inexpensive. I have some 8.5xx11 self-laminating sheets that will protect the print on the cover. From what you have shown, I think I'll be pretty happy with it. Again... Thank you!

I have been using this tool exclusively for a number of days. Am actually using it right now to stamp 50 cards -- just thought I would take a break to give an update. Have it sitting on a Tim Holtz Media Grip Mat, so it doesn't slide on my desktop. Have also used some of the same mat inside the platform to keep the cardstock from shifting. It is performing fabulously, and any misgivings I had with regard to gifting this tool has vanished. Also, I've never seen the point of getting a stamp press when sliding a piece of cloth over the platform lid with my palm worked. Uh, I was wrong because the enclosed press has been very comfortable and easy to use, and it works great. A bit wordy, I know, but I'm happy with my purchase. 😁

Thank you for the review. I have not seen any other reviews. You get a lot for the price. I think I paid $7 or $8 for a lawn fawn shammy which is great & $8 to $10 for the hocky puck thing. I use a Sizzix sticky mat grid which is 8 tall 6 wide & had 3 mats maybe ? But do not know if they are still available. ? The hinge is a big concern if they are plastic, especially for thicker material. You warned about all the possible short comings. really great review. Price point is key.
@craftingwithclass1
@craftingwithclass1 Год назад
Thank you so much! ❤️ I agree about the hinge. Which is why I would probably not use it with red rubber otherwise it’s a more affordable alternative 🫶🏼
@irunwithink
@irunwithink Год назад
I noticed watching you demo that the diamond press moves all over the place vs Misti stays put on your surface. That would drive me crazy. And not having a really good depth of space for red rubber is a no go for me. I think if you aren't wanting to invest a little more for the Misti or even Altenew stamp wheel or even tonic studious tim Holtz stamp platform then this may be for you. Not for me. I would suggest Tonic Studios Tim Holtz platform for the price comparison with the Diamond press. Thanks for taking time to review.
@craftingwithclass1

The bottom is the same as the Misti (except not magnetic) 🤷🏻‍♀️ If someone has a Misti, this would not be necessary but if someone is looking for an affordable option I do think it’s a good alternative. I’ve never used the TH one since it’s not available anymore. Which is another reason why this DP is a good alternative. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I personally would recommend the Hampton Arts Stamp Perfect but it is also not available since they were sued by MSP as well.
@elstongunn4277
@elstongunn4277 Год назад
Invest a “little more” for a MISTI or the Altenew Stamp Wheel????!!! Lol. The Altenew Stamp Wheel is about $100 and the MISTI is around $70+. This platform is clearly for the person who just wants to be able to stamp an image on paper and be able to stamp multiple times in the exact same spot every time. That is all it claims to be.
@Marilynlovesebiking
@Marilynlovesebiking Год назад
Personally I do not think the Diamond press stamping press can compare to the Misti quality wise. I have the small Misti and find it great for card making. The hinged door and magnets are much better than using tape. I also have the original Tim Holtz stamping platform for larger paper. But for stampers just starting out without any stamping platform the DP would be a good option.
@craftingwithclass1
@craftingwithclass1 Год назад
Hi👋🏼 Both platforms have hinged doors. I prefer the sticky mat or the photopolymer mat to the magnet but that’s ok if you don’t. They’re simply just our personal preferences and we don’t have to like the same things. I also like and use the mini Misti more than the full size. It is my opinion that this is a good alternative yo the Misti at a much more affordable and accessible price point. It stamps clear stamps of all types just as well as the Misti. I was actually quite surprised by that. As i mentioned, I did this review so that people who were thinking about getting this platform had information on how it worked for me and could make a decision if this was right for themselves. My go-to is still the HA Stamp perfect! 🫶🏼

I was quite surprised at the results but I’m glad there’s an affordable alternative I can recommend! With the hinged plate though, I’m wondering if they’re in the cross hairs for a lawsuit 🤔. I hope not… ❤️
@elstongunn4277
@elstongunn4277 Год назад
Of course it doesn’t have the “quality” and bell and whistles that the MISTI does…that is why it is $50 less expensive!! With a few minor adjustments (and I notice that most well-known card makers have switched from using magnets to using the sticky mats that are now made by most companies, anyway), the quality of the STAMPING results are virtually the same. And that’s really all that is needed, right? A good, crisp stamped image that can be repeated in the exact same spot over and over again with little effort is the goal.
@elstongunn4277
@elstongunn4277 Год назад
@@Marilynlovesebiking The creator of the MISTI went after many manufacturers of stamping platforms claiming patent infringement. They could only run the Tim Holtz platform out of the USA market, but not out of the European market as their IP laws are different. That is why so many manufacturers didn’t come out with stamping platforms for a long time. I believe the “hinged top” was the sticking point, which My Pretty Petunia claimed was invented by them and a proprietary feature.

CANT imagine stamping would/ could be any different with Diamond press. Misty was always grossly overpriced. I DO wish inside DP where one lays the card down, would have an etched grid
@craftingwithclass1
@craftingwithclass1 11 месяцев назад
@insanity6829 I have continued using the DP tool off camera & it works for the purpose intended at a much affordable price. You can add a Sizzix sticky mat to the bottom and that would provide a grid and grip the paper.

I have both Mistis (way too expensive), had TH stamp press (gave it away) I have We R Memory Keepers stamp press and like this one the best. I also just bought their little tiny one to keep on my desk for sentiment strips. They have pegs and no hinges to break. I use a cheap, Amazon circuit mat that I cut up to fit in the press. Works great and I can use any paper size since it only have the two ledges. Wished I would have seen those before leaping into the overpriced Misti. I have the Misti corners as well and never use them. Waste of money.

I’ve never tried a peg system tool before but I can definitely see a benefit of having an open side where your paper can hang out of. I think the Misti is a good tool but it’s good to have more affordable options as well 👍🏼

I have Tim Holtz’ stamp platform, and it is nothing like this! It is magnetic, black colored, and the clear top comes out of its hinges and flips around to accommodate the thicker red stamps he puts out. He also has the foam insert for thinner stamps.
