@@philtkaswahl2124 Someone did the math on Reddit at some point. Apparently she should be hitting that part of her cycle in a year. Makes sense, right?
The sad part for Tendi is that she is only living up to her reputation among her people, and that of her family in general. Orion gossip will be that D'Vana Tendi, Mistress of the Winter Constellations, was on the town humiliating all who tried to deny her demands for information.
@Brasswatchman T'Lyn is going to be a fucking legendary officer. Old Vulcans are going to be shocked by her. Young Vulcans are going tomwant to BE her.
On the contrary. Analyzing prior encounters indicates orions appreciate a confrontational approach of hierarchy. T'lyn was simply, as they say, 'doing as one does in rome.'
To Tendi it's just an embarrassing reminder of how barbaric Orion culture is compared to the more peaceful and egalitarian Federation culture that she has grown to admire. Her being good at space pirate/crime syndicate stuff makes her feel like she doesn't really belong in the federation.
It's like Nog being embarassed about Ferrangi culture. dude is legitimately amazing at the art of the horse trade (severy chain of delas he's done has paid off hansomely.) He just doens't want to be thought of as 'just a ferrangi swindler.'
You may come to regret knowing that after what happened with Sam. You remember how aggressive and bad attitude prone he was in reflections last session. For all now, Tendi could have been more no nonsense back then. I am just saying be careful what you wish for.
@Brasswatchman You'd pretty much have to be, the Orion syndicate is absolutely no joke in the other series, and to be groomed from birth to be the literal leader of a major house on Orion would entail an absolutely grotesque upbringing.
I’m sure this won’t be a popular opinion but I feel like Boimler and Tendi would be a great pairing, given how much they have in common. Both come from backgrounds they would rather not associate with, can get both serious and passionate about their jobs, geek out over starfleet trivia, have experienced unrequited love interests, the list just keeps going on.
I prefer Tendi and Rutherford and don't really see her with Boimler that being said like the connection you made between the 2, got me wondering if the characters are interconnected in various ways, Rutherford had a delinquent maverick side & Mariner has a delinquent Maverick side, Rutherford is books art and likes learning and doing nerdy stuff, so to does Boimler, etc
Damn, I wish her VA didn't pass, I would spam her inbox all day on a free excuse to use a voice she loved to death, literally, any time Ursula needed a VA, she reprised it with no hesitation.
@@krg-diver4655yes 3 orion women are presented to captain archer as a piece offering between the orion syndicate and starfleet, however it's revealed that its not the women who are the slaves but the men and they nearly take over the enterprise, all the men are enamored except for the chief engineer, because he has a mental bond with the vulcan first officer.
"...I said that not all Orions control men with pheromones. Some of us definitely do, just not me." This raises so many questions about Tendi. Do Orion women have voluntary control over their pheromones? If Tendi could still use Orion pheromones, under what terms did Starfleet allow her to join? Does Tendi spray herself with that pheromone neutralizing potion on a daily basis? Did she have her glands surgically removed?
A bit later it's stated that Tendi never had the pheromones; that plus Tendi's earlier statements seem to mean that the pheromones are something only a subset of Orions have. Maybe most do, maybe most don't, but from what we've seen it isn't weird that she lacks them, so I'd guess it's either a fairly even split, or most don't have pheromones.
Those are good educated guesses, @@MarshalStomm, but not sufficient for a proper report to Starfleet. Besides, isn't it improbable that D'Vana would've been elevated to her exalted position in Orion society if she lacked the pheromones? Her parents invested a lot of time and effort into educating the Tendi sisters. Further, Orion society revolves around (what we'd consider) criminal behavior. If some Orion females lacked the pheromones, that would quickly produce a two-tiered society, would it not? Or even a policy of infanticide. I don't see any evidence of that. We need more concrete answers. Thankfully LD glommed onto the Orions as the species they want to explore, and I'm here for it.
As the lady said Tendi did not need them to control people. The lady said that Tendi made men fall at her feet stricken to Tendi's embarrassment. So, pheromones are not a requirement to be the top woman on Orian. Some high-ranking women do have them, and some don't. But they all climb to the top of the social ladder one way or the other.
@@karlolson1363 Indeed, it's all the more impressive for Tendi to achieve the status she did without the ability to enthrall the men around her. Her status is truly earned, and she has all the more respect and awe for it.
I don't remember what the wiki exactly said but it said something about the pheromonomes' effect being different in other species. You can go look it up if ya want lol
According to Memory Alpha, it works on heterosexual males of multiple species, including humans, making them more aggressive and suggestible. Vulcans are immune, however, and it gives human females headaches.
Man, the poor men. They have little chance of equality with such pheromone-heavy women they can practically control. But what do you expect from another culture? Most worlds have ways of life that Starfleet don't necessarily like, but that's just the way it is in life. That's why Mariner got a knife twice that was intended for Tendi. Understanding foreign cultures takes time and sometimes a little blood. 😏
@@TheChoujinVirus And what exactly are these characters? Are they among the friends of Tendi? Or are these ancient extraterrestrial rituals on their planet?🤔
@@harvey2906 Salandit and Salazzle are Pokemon from the Pokemon Franchise. They kinda have the Orion thing (Salazzle able to control Male Salandits with pheremones)
Felt funny but stupid for the other club scene to try and shit on the idea that Orions don't use pheromones as weapons only to show off how they use it as weapons.
In the second season, when Tendi kicks her cousin in his face, you can see for a moment a red blood. I guess some Orions have green bloods, others have the red one. I don't know how would it work in one species, but whatever
The pheromone sniffing shtick is gross and revolting. This episode is really offensive to noral hetero males. Male Gaze is our natural right, and no B , small or little, may encroach on it.
