Sad to hear of his passing. Extremely talented man, Your musicianship lives on RU-vid to be admired for years to come. God bless and Thank you. My condolences to your family RIP Mr Graves.
I would like a father like him, someone to listen me, to teach me how to play saxophone someone to be my dad. But unfortunately I grew up hearing that I was useless and only after my 40s I decided to buy my first saxophone and now I am living like a man. Today I am a engineer, a have a wonderful family And five years ago when I spoke to my father for the last time he said to me like this " to me you are still useless".
How lucky you are to have an iconic dad like Mr.Graves 🥰 Rest in peace 🙇🏻♂️You dad sound still in my heart every morning I woke up🥰 Thanks again to made my everyday happy 🥰🙇🏻♂️
Rip Mr Graves. You are and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me. Huge loss to those of us that admired your playing. My deepest condolences to your family. Thank for sharing the beauty of your music.
Vladimir Lopez..I’m glad that you share my musical appreciation for Mr. Aubra Graves... As a 30 year+ veteran of the Tenor Saxophone myself ...clearly I still need to learn how to blow my horn 👍❤️
I am playing a selmer Mk V11 (seven) very early ser. no. 242--- has all of the eng. etc. My mouthpiece is a New York 7* otto Link. Thanks for listening. A.Graves
Truly an artist , not for money or glory, or how many tricks that can be done , but to show us what music can sound like, when it is performed from the heart. We are fortunate to be able to see and hear this, in these times. thanks Mr.Graves
There is so much praise for this (seemingly very humble) fellow, that I thought it superfluous to add my 2 cents worth. But try as I may, I can't hold it back, I just have to let it out: This is just absolutely superb ! There, I feel better now.
No Saxaphonist...dead or alive can articulate a song like this man. The perfect Ballroom vibe...and his phrasing is unmatched. You willed be missed! SIP!
Misty is one of my all time favorite songs and when I heard Mr. Grave's version, I have been enchanted by this song even more. Beautiful rendition. Bravo!!
I listen almost every day to some of the songs he has on RU-vid. What a great talent. The family should be proud of all of the enjoyment he has given to all of us who love Jazz. Thank You Ray
As a lifelong sax player, you are one of the few that have stirred my passion so profoundly for the instrument. YOU ARE AMAZING! Your playing is now and will always be a source of inspiration for me. I will strive to emulate you for the rest of my playing days. Thank God for you, the internet and youtube for leading me to this.
I’m watching this from 2023 and this is still going to be my best Misty saxophone Cover and you have been so far my inspiration to continue playing saxophone 🥰🙇🏻♂️
Aubra Graves, Dexter Gordon would not only have been proud of you, he would have envied your prodigious buoyance to the point of wanting to be counted amongst your students. Forgive the jocular hyperbole intended merely to high light Aubra's superlative ability. Dude can play!
Jeden z ładniejszych światowych utworów. I to jeszcze przepięknie zagrany. Nie wiem czy zauważyliście państwo, że ten sam numer, a jak inaczej zagrany przez Stan Getza. Też prześlicznie...
I have just started playing the tenor saxophone after having played the clarinet for years (as an amateur). I'm looking for some inspiration, and I sure found one - right here. Stan Getz and Ben Webster might just go home - if they could. This is how a tenor saxophone should sound. Congrats from Norway.
if you asked Aubra what mouthpiece he uses i am sure he will tell you no matter what mouthpiece he uses he will come back to that amazing sound on any one of them .So take note all you budding sax players out there your mouth is your tone chamber not your mouthpiece. So dont go wasting money on all different mouthpieces. Graham MALTA.
haha well some aebersolds could be a little...well better haha they are great but all the ones the rythm section just starts rushing and then it gets to the point where you wonder why its so hard to improvise and i would start the track over and couldnt believe how much slower it was before haha not all of them rush but most of the ones i have played have
This man did not blow air into this Saxaphone, he literally sang into the instrument. And any Saxaphonist who dreams of getting a similar sound with the same Setup, forget about it. Wont happen...this man isn't normal.
It's close to midnight. I'm watching the moon above my city and I miss sooooo much for my girlfriend because she is far away now... I'm listening your play and I feel misty... Thanks man!
Hi, I really admire your father's playing. Do you know the mouthpiece he used on the tune "Nancy"(it was silver-colored metal)? I thought his tone on that tune was really exceptional. Thanks. uribengal
You play with good taste and the right notes !!!! Congratulation.... who are you ?? Wich sax and mouthpiece and reed do you have ? Give me your email pls .. Marisa
He is not worried about making money at this, a true musicians musician. If it was not for his sons making these video's , we would not even know about him. I do believe.
At a time when far too many jazz musicians are intent on simply racing scales through the changes, it's so nice to hear a man make every note and every pause count. Beautiful.
Hi, I really admire your father's playing. I especially enjoyed the tone of his alto ( a hard tone) on the tune "Nancy". Do you know the type of mouthpiece he used there (it was silver looking)? Thanks. uribengal
Master Aubrey Grave - this saxaphone virtuoso could use a horn manufactured from scrap metal and transform the sound to audible excellence. His musical phrasing is superb and second to none. Places him in a different class to any other saxaphonist i have heard in my listening tenure. Long live this musucal genius. Blessings!
His "setup" is a ton of talent, and dozens of years of dedication. Aubra, you sound amazing on everything I hear! But FWIW, I like you best on the Conn and the Link.
Hello Mr. Graves. You're great. We can feel the love for music and for Jazz coming out of that horn. Dexter and Bird are very present in your playing. You must have incredible stories to tell in such a long career.Keep telling us your stories. But please forget that reverb. It kills your lovely tone. You sound so much greater - and truer- with no electronic effects. Much respect from Portugal José
