I was told countless times that it was too late for me to start or that I will never amount to anything and when I found out about Misty every hope that I had ever lost slowly came back to me and I'm not willing to give up.
I got my ballet toe shoes at age 28 - the happiest day of my life! Ballet gave me the grace and beauty and strength that I never thought I would have. I was put in the class with the 11 year olds, but it was wonderful~ I remember those days as some of the happiest of my life. Never give up and always keep trying!
No she hasn't. There are tons of people who see a shit more hell and overcome it. It's not like she was raped by her father and brother every day for her whole childhood while her mom sold her self for crack and then got knocked up had a baby and adopted it out while living in an efficiency room and yet still graduated high school with a scholarship and became a multimillionaire. What's wrong with you? People suffer and overcome so much more than her being pampered by some rich people while her family was poor and then fighting for her in court. Get real. People idolize obsess and praise for wrong reasons

Her grace shows on the outside and I'm glad Victoria Rowell got involved in her life because I remember Victoria talking about the Race topic years ago and she was very heart felt about it.
Misty holds her own with any of the Fabled Russian dancers: what a formidable young beauty: how did she cope with her childhood while developing not a world class body that combineshumln movement and artistic expression which is the definition of dance. Misty is fabled and her instrument is high wattage, fine tuned, just incredible.
In my opinion, she is far from being fable. In fact, her technique is pretty bad that her tibia has to endure a lot of sheer stress and became broken. A titanium coil has been inserted to her shin to prevent itself from further injury. If you look for some good solid technique black ballerinas ( who definitely deserve media spotlight), I recommend Michaela Deprince, Precious Adams and Lauren Anderson.
@@emmarosef1277 With her being a woman of color making her way through the caucasian world that exists in ballet, I am more than sure that she is intelligent because I'm secure in believing that if not it would have been another excuse for her not to be given the opportunities that she has received to dance. The POCs that succeed in a field that is dominated by caucasian people with their opinions are better than the best of the best in that arena. Tiger Woods, Venus, and Serena, Beyonce, Micheal Jackson to name a few.
She is a rare talent. She has natural turn out and perfect body type. She is muscular with a small head and well proportioned body. Most of us look terrible when we first start and she was amazing after just a few months. No doubt she is a hard worker that is a huge part, but make no mistake she is a rare talent. She has been given a gift from God and apparently it was well deserved!
She's beautiful and inspirational. I can't dance especially professionally. She inspires me in my fitness routine. She mention challenging and reassessing yourself. That's what inspires me is challenging and reassessing myself in my nutrition and fitness
+manwin actually, the interviewer asks very pertinent questions...and allows her to fully respond...This is the most of her incredibly interesting story that I've heard her speak about in an interview. Misty has a GREAT personality, in addition to her character, which I'm sure is part of her success!! :)
+toodleloo ...I ABSOLUTELY agree with you toodleloo...the interviewer's questioning technique satisfied a lot of curiosity I had about Ms Copeland's world. This was a very excellent interview in my opinion.

+ MY Sabic If Ms. Copeland is mediocre - and you have a ballet background - what does that make you or say about you? Where do you perform? Where is your media attention? Any magazine features - - - or MENTIONS? What is your dance achievement?... I mean REALLY!?!?!?!? WOW!!!!! I don't dance ballet (and never wanted to be a ballerina) but I enjoy watching it greatly and have for over 45 years. I grew up on the Russian masters and loved their talent. I have been watching since age 12 and I know superb dancing. This woman is superbly magnificent! Top ballet companies don't take a dancer and make her the top prima ballerina just because they have a social conscious. Especially choosing a prima ballerina who is half black. Most ballerina are so pale and much skinnier than Misty.

What the hell was wrong with her mother?? It looks like every dancer or artist has dramas.. Major ones!! The Carlos Acosta story was similar.. Except he didn't start off with the passion that Misty has.. She seems really humble and heartfelt. xx

I hope she doesn't allow her deadbeat father ever into her life. I hope her mother has gotten her life together and is now taking care of her family as she should. It is not Misty's job to support her siblings.
Have you read her autobiography? The fact that Ms. Copeland has any relationship with her biological mother at all attests to her extraordinary generosity of spirit. Had I had such a selfish parent, I don't think I could have been nearly so compassionate and forgiving.
They just found a black girl that tries to make things in the white people's world (by this I mean the ballet world), and told everybody her teardrop story... But she's not such a talented ballerina. Not even close.

She is absolutely talented, and even if she weren't, she's inspirational and has inspired many others to pursue dance. That's an amazing thing.
