This is the section of the trip that we all came for. Merricumbene Fire Trail is pretty well maintained so the steep sections aren't too difficult to negotiate. It is roughly 3hrs from the river crossing to the camp grounds. It is definitely worth doing. A couple of our cars are pretty much stock standard except for some all terrains and we made it easily.

Closed at the moment I think. We went through in Nov 21' and the damage from the fires was very evident. We camped at the spot 1hr in that you guys stopped at, beautiful. River was too high and flowing too fast to cross so we turned around and went back to the campground.......after camping at that clearing spot. Awesome track, stay away in the wet unless you have a death wish :)

Yeah was closed for ages after the fires. Awesome drive with great campsites at each end.
