I just purchased your sanding disk and used it immediately upon arrival. The embossed area on the disc is a very intuitive way for lining up the sandpaper...a thoughtful touch. I have a small shop out of the garage and do not have a jointer. This performed beautifully on my contractor Dewalt table saw. This is a game changer for me. I am currently making my first ever cabinets and cabinet doors. While everything has been reasonably square in the past, this brings it to a whole new level. I just wanted to let you know that you have a amazing product for a fair price. Thanks a ton.

Very nice project! May have to do something similar in my new shop building. Just as an aside, Tulip Poplar/Yellow Poplar (a member of the magnolia family) is a different species/family than cottonwood and true-poplar/aspen. The former is used heavily in the furniture industry, especially in the east where it grows prolifically. Great material and very reasonable cost as you mention.

Mike your $75 garage sale is actually by far the most expensive miter saw in the market since 30 years ago. The brand new one 14” not the 12” you have is costing about $7000. It’s the most accurate miter saw money could buy now😂. I believe you know already how to tone it, if not please let me know, I have one also. I wish you well make a video about this stationary Miter saw, and why it’s a must in serious cabinet shops.

Poplar is an excellent paint grade wood. Perfect to for interior moldings as you mentioned. The colors of the boards can be a mix of light green with tan and areas of gray. It works easy like cherry and can be found in many areas. The cabinet shops around my area always keep it on hand in place of pine. I prefer it over pine as it does not have the pitch that pine does.

Another great project video from The Master Mike. This miter saw bench will serve you well for years, I am sure. The dust collector you set up is impressive, too -- not to mention the shaper, which is A Beast. Two addition comments: (1) Poplar is a great and affordable option for many worthwhile uses; just don't stain it unless you use dye stains, IMO. (2) "Green Grass and High Tides" takes me back to my 1959 Chevy Impala convertible. Thanks for that. (The Outlaws are good, but another choice would be Lynyrd Skynyrd.) Many thanks for the video..

Outstanding presentation! You solved the chop saw dust collection puzzle so brilliantly. Kudos. I built Norm's version of the bench almost 20 years ago but could never get adequate dust collection figured out for my 12 inch sliding double compound saw. Still have the saw and am building new bench in smaller shop. You have given me some good ideas for a intermediate dust collector that runs independent of my ClearVue dust collector. Nothing shortens the life of a 5hp motor then constantly turning it on and off. Those Wynn filters are awesome. I've still my two original filters with my ClearVue and other than back blowing them annually, they might last for ever.

Randomly clicked on your video while watching something else, thought it looked too good for my tiny 110 sq ft "shop" in my apartment, but later came back. Glad I did, excellent video. I see you like using silicone, I have discovered that a fairly generic "industrial" grade of high temp hot glue sticks to HDPE and PP plastics way better and longer than silicone (and any other adhesive other than purpose made $$$$ adhesives I can't afford) on my first 5 gal bucket dust separator. Everything that relied on silicone was too fragile and didn't stick for long. The vacuum held it together until I decided to improve it. An Iso 99% cleanup, followed by acetone wipe, then sanding, flame, and Iso99 then acetone didn't improve much the silicone hold, but on the high temp hot glue it did wonders even without the flame and sanding on many parts.

@@MikeFarrington To be clear, I was relying on silicone to hold the Thien baffle, inlet, outlet and lid to the "bucket assembly" together. A couple disconnects later and the outlet or inlet was no longer air tight. The HDPE 5 gal buckets are hard to glue because HDPE, but even with screws it flexes too much and the silicone separates. For gaskets between plywood and plastic, especially since your assembly doesn't rely on the silicone to hold it together, it's perfectly fine. Hot glue sets almost "instantly" (within 5-10 min) to a much better than "fixture strength" level.

That will prove to be a productive and valuable asset to the shop. I'm a big fan of not hoarding.......OK, fine shop junk hoarding, but not throwing stuff away. All inevitably gets put to good use at some point. Proof of that pudding is the dust collection you fabed up. Happy to report NO projectile vomiting here. Well done, you deserve a frosty🍺. That air box off of the dust collect has square corners inside that do not help air flow. Get some flat sheets of galvanized steel at Lowes and cut and screw some corner pieces to round out the box as I did on my dust collection box. Every little bit helps in air flow.

Those gamma seal bucket lids are great! I use them on my maple sap collection buckets. We have a very small urban operation and some of the trees we collect from are beyond walking distance from home. The gamma seal lids work so well we don't have to worry about tipping a bucket in the car on the drive home. This is a slick "hack" for them!

I also use a gamma seal lid as my oil change recycle bucket. Same reason, won't spill in my van.
