My bunny has a bald spot and this answered my question of what it was! Thank you! If they have a bald spot and there aren't any other bunnies to fight with, do you think it's most likely mites then?
Take them to the car... and put them in one barrier when the car starts and both of them feel uncomfortable.... when both of them will feel uncomfortable, that will try to comfort each other. Do this twice or thrice a week and see. This method may work.
Are there any possible complications for the treatment? I’m fairly certain my boys have mites but should I confirm that with a vet appointment before buying xeno 50
i just adopted a bunny who was kept in a barn. He has a bald spot and not excessive dandruff, he did have one red spot on his neck but he lived with other bunnies and thought he may have been bit. he lives alone now but he is really itchy
Yes this is mites. You can get a bag of diatomaceous earth (food grade) it's about $8 and rubb it all over the bunny. Also watered down hydrogen peroxide helps just spray it all over
My bun keeps scratching but I haven’t seen any bold spots I just got her yesterday. The back of her ears aswell are really red and has a small sore like dot in one of her ears.. any ideas as to what it could possibly be???
I just noticed my bunny has a decent sized patch of missing hair it’s not really bald because there is some hair left he is a house bunny and their are no other bunny’s that might have caused this could this be mites or something else my mom says it might just be him shedding and it’s part of the process should I be worried?
I had my rabbit get the shot of ivermechin and he a bad reaction and was dizzy and falling over for 2 days. So decided to try the topical instead for the remaining treatment
My rabbits chest has bald spots, he shares a room with another room. He didn’t have bald patches before or when he was just out with the other rabbit. So I feel like it’s because he is sharing a room with our other rabbit
My rabbit is an inside rabbit, I believe she received the mits either from the trip to the park or the wood shavings that I purchased from Petco ( I’ve been using for more than 5 months now 🤷🏾♀️) I’m concerned that while treating the mites they may leave out of her cage and into my house. There’s no out side yard that I can place her in while I do the treatment. Any advice I would definitely appreciate it.
I can’t see the mites, no scabs in ears no red or bald spots, but shakes his ears constantly, he’s got white scabs on his cheeks too, is this not mites or can be mange, or scabies. The small animal vet didn’t know what it was. I just want my little guy to stop itching. I know he’s frustrated. The vet treated him with revolution, didn’t seem to work for more than 2 days. And then I treated him with ivermectin, worked slightly.
@@sanchezzbwd9580 they still have them but we’re going back to the vet on the 20th to hopefully get an ivermectin injection (they’re going to just love that) 🤦♀️
Primrose is gorgeous! 😍 Coloring is really unique. Quick question: Is it okay for other rabbits to be around the one with mites? They don't spread? I'm new to this. Sorry.
i got my 2 baby rabbits few days ago and i noticed that my other rabbit is always itchy like 2 days ago? and now my other rabbit also is kinda itchy? idk they keep scratching their ears and im getting worried. my other rabbit poop is dark and soft and his tail hair is missing idk what is happening :(( and watching this i saw my other rabbit that she have baldness in her neck or chin :((
I need help. My bunny has three bald patches up and down her butt. I went to the doctor and they said they saw no Mites. I got the treatment anyway and it’s been two weeks and nothing has gotten better. What do I do?
I can’t afford to bring both of my bunnies in to the vet (because I’m physically limited and have to get my 5 month old boy neutered on the 26th.) they keep itching at their behind and my doe is losing fur in a couple different places… my cousin does have diatomaceous earth which I’m going to give a go it’s food grade so you can put the DE on their fur and sprinkle it in their water please wish us luck with that! It’s my only hope unless you have a backup option (that’s fairly inexpensive.)
@@sadieflint1994 just make sure it's watered down and wet a paper towel or rag and wipe the affected areas. I use this method a lot cause the struggle is real and vets are expensive. Just don't use peroxide on any open wounds on your bunny....just for patches of hair loss or if there is just minor irritation that should be fine. Works for my bun every time
@@sadieflint1994 just wipe the areas like twice a day and that should help. Using watered down hydrogen peroxide as well as diatomaceous earth is even better. I live by these 2 things when it comes to my bun . The diatomaceous earth is a very fine powder and can get pretty dusty and some buns are prone to respitory issues so just be careful. If you can apply it outside is best but if not you should be okay anyways. Just sprinkle it on your bun like every 3 days . It won't hurt them
@@raylassiter6582 Your awesome I’m going to try this. I already use DE but after a while they start itching again.. I don’t see any visible mites/bugs… but my one girl has a couple of spots of missing fur and they itch…
I have a an odd fur mite problem. No bald patches just super tiny black/ brown colored mites no dandruff. I noticed they had these mites because they stopped eating thought it was from GI stasis but they would eat somtimes but other signs of g.i stasis was null untill I noticed the bugs during a brush session. Looked like tiny pepper everywhere.
I just got my bunny and she tends to do the head/ear twitch Primrose does at 1:48. I was wondering if this is normal and healthy? Also your bunnies are so cute!! 😍
Hi congrats on your new bunny! Yeah what Primrose does at 1.48 is completely normal. If your bunny is itching her ears constantly or twitching all the time you can always get her checked just in case as if she does it excessively if could be ear mites. x
Hello! I feed unlimited hay and they also get a small handful each of Burgess Excel pellets once a day. They have spring greens once a day too in the evening 😀
Thank you providing us this amazing video but i have steal a doubf that my rabbit have black spot on his skin what is that can you plzz help me plzz !!
My bunny sometimes gets scabs on his ear, I assumed it was because he was scratching. he shakes his ears a lot which I took as a sign of irritation? should I get him checked out?
You never mention how often to clean the cage or if the mites can infect the other rabbits or even your cat if you don’t isolate him. Do you have any information on those issues?
The mites could affect other pets if in direct contact. I wouldn't advise isolating because they're bonded and the stress could cause more harm. Just make sure you keep a close eye on the other rabbits and treat them as well if necessary.
Nope just Bertie. All rabbits naturally have some mites in their fur which are harmless but they can flare up if the rabbits immune system is down. Bertie's was down so he had a flare up which has now gone. I did think it might spread but it didn't. The other four are very healthy and always grooming themselves. They also have a different fur type to Bertie so that could be why.
Ahh I'm not sure which sites will deliver to you as I'm in the UK but I'm sure there'll be a similar product that does the same thing over in the States. Just contact a vet over there ☺️
You can treat with xeno 450 and you can get it online for about £18. I'd always recommend a vet visit though as there could be another cause for the fur loss.
mypamperedpets I can’t find anywhere to buy it online in the US only UK:( Do you know if there’s a different version in USA or a place that sells it here? I can’t afford the vet right now:/
I'm not so sure as I get different search results over here in the UK but try googling 'ivermectin rabbit'. Ivermectin is the ingredient you need in the treatment. I'm sure there will be a mite treatment for rabbits over there that contains it.
My rabbit has ear mites but my dad says he won’t take her to the vet. My parents have always believed you only take pets to the vet if they are dying. I am crying because I am not comfortable doing my own treatment because I am scared I will hurt her but I don’t want her to be uncomfortable or hurt. ☹️ my dad also says it’s to expensive, I see all these stories about people whose dad took the rabbit to the vet voluntarily but my dad won’t even take her when he knows she has an infection ☹️
That's really sad, I'm so sorry and your dad is actually breaking the law by not taking a pet in need to the vets. Please get some xeno 450 (or 50 depending on the weight of your rabbit) and treat them yourself. x
Thank you for the suggestion, do you know of any stores besides Amazon that I could get xeno 50 at? If I order at Amazon it could take 2 - 4 days. Also xeno 50 works for rabbits that are 3 - 4 pounds correct?
@@mypamperedpets no, I’m in the US. Also I started watching some other videos and they all said that ear mites are way down in the bottom of the ear, my rabbit has scabs and it kind of looks like blood up near the top, it is only one ear and there is nothing in the bottom of the ear but it is just a random patch near the top of her ear. Is that still ear mites?
Hi I love this chanel miss your gunnie pigs and love all ur buns could I ask if you can shout me out as I'm trying to raise money to get a better setup for my animals x
