Hi Armando, I have just graduated from my nursing degree. I would like to say thank you, as a lot of your videos have helped me understand the concepts taught in my science classes throughout the 3 and a half years.

I don't think you can do balloon valvuloplasty in regurgitation, Mr Hasudungan. It is a treatment for stenotic valves.

Hey yea good point. I should have double checked this. I got this info from bestpractice so didnt think twice. But you are 100% right, it is not an operation for MR. Thank you for pointing it out!

70% of Mitral Valve Regurgitation is clinically insignificant and non symptomatic in most cases and no treatment is reguired! This comes from a Board Certified Cardiologist and you can also look it up on the Internets!

Excellent video. I just want to let people know, if you have a patient with mitral regurgitation, feel their pulse! It might be a jerky feeling pulse, which is obviously due to some of the blood going into the left atrium rather than the systemic circulation.

I am 45 years old, half a year ago I was diagnosed with mitral regurgitation with prolapse, I am waiting for surgery right now. This video helped me better understand and what to expect, more precisely what type of surgery and what are all options to "fix" the problem so I can continue to function normally for the rest of my life.

@@b-gamer340 Good luck my friend. I was told my mitral valve regurgitation is now severe and I will need surgery as well. I have had two open heart surgeries when I was 4 and 6, now i'm 24 and i'm hoping they can fix it once and for all.

I have mild mitral regurgitation and my cardiologist said not to worry and get check ups every 2-5 years. I've had it for 7 years, stays the same, no symptoms at all and I feel great. She said it's not likely to progress. It still scary. I think about it all the time. This video and others scare me because I feel that it will get worse later on.

Hi my name is Ron from the Philippines. My 13 y/o nephew has mild mitral regurgitation. We just found out last week. The doctor said he needs to undergo surgery. Have you undergone any surgery Ms. Maggie? We would like to get a second opinion just to avoid surgery if there are other ways to treat this one.

My 10 yr old was diagnosed with this last summer and evidently he was born with it. I still can't figure out how it took 10 years for any of his Drs to hear a heart murmur?? That still has me perplexed. I hope he can go without any issues for life or at least not until well into his adult years. Right now we have to go back annually to have him checked. It is scary when it’s your own child. (Miracle baby at that). Both sides of my husband as well as all sides of my own family have all have had serious heart conditions as well as strokes, heart attacks, heart surgeries galore, some passed away from heart issues, etc. So our family history really did not bless him to be born into a decent genetic or gene pool. I hope you do not have any complications or series issues (at least not until you are well into your elderly years). I was happy to see you have been ok for several years. It gives me a feeling of a 'little less stress' regarding my son's heart.

MITRAL VALVE: the leaflets are significantly thickened with mildly restricted excursion. the calculated valve area is 3.6cm2. Peak velocity across the valve is 1.28m/s with a max and mean gradient of 7/2mmHG. Can this valve be repaired? I nearly died of pulmonary edema last year?

My son has a pansystolic murmur and the hospital aren't even bothered about getting his heart scanned even though he's out of breath now and always tired. Had to go back to our doctor and now they are referring him to a hospital that will do an echocardiogram on him to see what's causing this murmur.

hello. when does the mitral regurgitation happens during diastolic or systole?
@Nina21_
@Nina21_ 3 года назад
systole, the blood is supposed to be ejected to the aorta but since the mitral valve isn't totally closed a portion of that blood goes backwards to the left ventricle ( i hope i explained it in a clear way )
