Mitsubishi Triton - Isuzu Mu-X - Nissan GU Patrol 4WD Challenge @ Amamoor State Forest

Gday Guys and Gals!
In this video Kev, Ben and I tackle the challenging tracks of Amamoor State Forest. Kev is Driving his modified Mitsubishi Triton, Ben is in his highly modified Nissan GU Patrol and I am driving my Modified Isuzu Mu-x.
We started our adventure at the Cedar Grove Campground were we all dropped our tyre pressures for the day ahead. From the campground the tracks headed straight up to the top or a ridge line, we followed the ridge for a while and then took a steep decent down into the valley. We found alot of challenging climbs and descents along the way.
The Isuzu Mu-X is fitted with a 50mm outback armour lift kit, SCF Rock Sliders, Safari Snorkel, AFN Bullbar, Kings DOmin8r winch, Waeco 50l fridge, Redarc BCDC1225D dual battery charger with a Giant 85 Ah AGM Battery, Custom Drawer System, HIKEIT X9 Throttle Controller, 265/70r17 Atturo Mud Terrain Tyres and much more!
The Mitsubishi Triton is fitted with 275/60r18 Maxxis Razr tyres, 2 inch adjustable outback armour lift kit, PIAK offroad bullbar, Runva 11xp winch, TJM Snorkel, Idrive Throttle controller and much more!
The Nissan GU Patrol is fitted with 4inch superior engineering lift kit, 35" Hankook Dynapro M/T, Factory Nissan Bullbar, Stainless snorkel, exhaust, front lockers, rock sliders, roof rack and much more...

@@LowRangeNick need to put some stairs in. Ive been out there a few times looking for decent tracks but always came empty handed. Need to get a winch in the disco by the looks of these.

Hey man, isn't the last climb called glasshouse or something similar. If so seen a video of a triton get up there but with lockers I think. Nick buddy, you have all that power mate yet you can't use it because you don't have any lockers. Need to invest in some, but I know they're expensive. Good video mate. Need to run with some more Triton's so they'll show the mu how it's done. Stay safe with all that bush fires around.

I like the challenge of open diffs, i came from a twin locked 80 that went everywhere. A little bit of a challenge is nice ;)

Enjoy these vids, thanks. Just comparing those low front on shots of the three vehicles over various terain, it appears to me that your shocks are a little too stiff for the MU-X spring rate for this kind of terrain Nick. I know mine is an armchair view, but thought I'd mention it in case there is something in it.

Yep, the standard performance outback armour struts are a little stiff, that is just how they are. You can see the triton which is running the outback armour adjustable struts and shocks on the softest setting takes the bumps alot smoother. 👍 I have been toying with the idea of going kings or fox remote res adjustables 😉 That will be down the track though.

Hey mate, your videos are one of the main reasons I am looking to snag an Mux. I am torn between the LSU and LSM model. As I will be modding it out, is there a reason to consider one over the other? Thanks and really enjoy your videos!

That's awesome ! There was a few reasons I chose the lsu over the lsm. Larger display screen, nicer interior, side steps, radio fin instead of a long aerial on the roof, nicer rims and larger size tyre on the placard. Chrome grille. Can't think of the rest but there's probably more haha. But if you want to save a bit of money the lsm is still a great vehicle.

Legend. I’m also tossing up between a second hand MUX, Pajero Sport or Fortuner. Does having no diff lockers make a huge difference? Pajero Sport seems to be best bang for buck, followed by MUX. Toyota have good reputation. It’s a tough decision, would love to hear your thoughts. My main purpose is for beach driving with some tricky entrance and exits.

Pajero sport all the way. Best vehicle out of the 3 by far. Diff lockers make a huge difference, you'd be surprised how much it helps! The PS is the best off road of the 3 because it has off road modes and a center locker in addition to the rear locker which the other 2 lack. Cheers mate, hope this helps!

Some good wheeling there Nick. How do you find the traction control on the MUX? I’ve heard it’s a bit ‘dozy’ and a lot people turn it off when 4wding. Keep up the good work Cheers....
