A particularly useful name reaction is the Mitsunobu reaction, which allows for the inversion of secondary alcohols, meaning from one stereochemistry to the other, which can be invaluable for organic synthesis. This will utilize a phosphine and an azodicarboxylate. How does this work? Let's take a look now!

Just knowing that I’m not required to learn or be tested on this later brings me immense joy.

15 years ago I mixed up the names of Mitsonubu reaction with the Wurtz reaction during a seminar - I'm still ashamed of it...this video brought back the memory.

forgive me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware Pf. Dave does not have a PhD. That being said, as a PhD recipient, assuming he is integrating even 5% of the content he presents, Dave-san could likely do 3-ish months of research and use just those three months to defend a PhD thesis in chem, biochem, and biology, by just emphasizing different discipline-relevant keywords to make it seem like the research was intentionally focused from the outset on that particular discipline.

This might sound dumb, but why is Phosphine written like triarsenic phosphide? isn't it just PH_3?
