Thats coz both Mitt and Obama wants to do good but just in different ways. Trump is just trash that wants to trash the whole whole world to benefit himself
What truth. That our system has become completely ineffectual? You have a senile Speaker of the House that cares more about her ice cream choice and destroying a president than helping the American people? That 'truth'.
Grandpa Romney cutting through the crap and telling it like it is: "…No congressional audit is ever going to convince these voters particularly when the president will continue to say that the election was stolen. The best way way we can show respect to these voters who are upset is by TELLING THEM THE TRUTH.” (applause 20 seconds) That’s the burden. That’s the duty of leadership…” YESSSS!
I really respect Romney for his consistency these past 4 years. Trump supporters may hate you and yell at you at the airport, but the rest of America is there for you.
I agree except for his response on the nomination of Amy Comey Barrett to the Supreme Court. That was utter bullshit and completely hypocritical of McConnell, given that he wouldn't confirm Merrick Garland in 2016 despite it being more than 8 months away from the 2016 election. Barrett was nominated less than a month before the 2020 election. Yet Romney said it was fine.
I am a Democrat but will say, Senator Romney has more class in his little finger, than the entire republican party will ever have in their entire party...I applaud you (out loud) sir and that which you conveyed, (within your speech), literally gave me chills/cheers..That which he spoke, (could easily be seen and felt by all), the feelings he placed forward, in his speech..I can easily find myself voting for this man, if there were no worthy Democrats running for the position. Way to stand up and stand out Senator Mitt Romney.....
Thank you. I'm a Utah citizen, and its been so hard seeing the state turn against him for having good integrity and rejecting the president. I'm scared he's ruined his political career in Utah.
@@allieasay8384 His (Romney's) integrity and stand against Trump's abuse of office will be remembered and weighed far heavier than the opportunists who would sell their souls to the devil/Trump for one more term or some other short term benefit. Decency and integrity never go to waste, and in time are their own reward.
I completely agree. I lean democrat, but I’ve built so much more respect for him the past year. He gives me hope for the future of the Republican Party being more willing to work across the aisle. The way it should be is that you can respect a politician even if you wouldn’t necessarily vote for them

@@matthewgraber6930 I know what you mean but honestly, and sadly, I don’t think there’re many republicans like him out there. Senator Romney is a gentleman with a brilliant mind and a sensitive heart. However, I’m afraid there’s a new wave of radicals who want Trump to lead the Party.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA........yeah he was honest when he got caught saying that 47% of americans are privileged and want the government to take care of them.

This is why party lines shouldn't matter, character counts. Mit Romney has shown time & time again he has a moral compass. It's important to stand up- not everyone does.
It would only be nice to see members from BOTH PARTIES show they are willing to cross party lines, but it's unfortunate that only one party is willing to do that.

If Mitt Romney left the GOP for a new party I would join him. There's too much polarization on both sides and I don't want the Republicans to win anymore if it means more people like Trump.
@@aaronrobinson2121 There's a lot of us moderates that feel the same. The base for each party has gotten too extreme and push unacceptable choices through the primary process. With the exception of Mitt Romney the other Senators who changed their mind and decided not to object the result of election , are actually jumping the sinking ship of Trump
Agreed... This is not directed at Romney, but rather at the other Republicans (of which, I am one myself)... What I find funny is, Trump had a very unorthodox campaign in 2016, and it started 4 years of bullying, suedo-racism that depressed our collective soul, literal attacks on the media/press, support for the “thin blue line” insurgents, nepotism that was blatant and shoved right in your face, and attempts to strong arm multiple elections, in both the midterms and now.... One white woman gets shot in the capitol, and now suddenly, FINALLY, the Republican politicians who supported Trump are having soul-searching “second thoughts.” (😂)

McCain funnelled the false dossier provided by Hillery to the FBI. He voted AGAINST the will of his constituents on the Obamacare repeal solely to get back at Trump for the shellacking Trump gave him in the primaries.

U only like Romney because he is against Trump. Thats the only reason u like Bush too. But why is Trump bad? What do u see bad about Trump? He said voter fraud is real with much evidence ignored by the supreme court.
I am proud of Mitt Romney with his speech, this only gives me some encouragement that both Democrats and Republicans can come together for the sake of our country. We have bigger things to contend with and these items won't resolve themselves if people still think that fraud was committed during the elections. As am American, I don't believe such actions were performed, and the actions yesterday that were taken was uncalled for, ridiculous, and un-American. We all must come together, no matter what.
I'm with you. I voted for Trump, but Biden won fair and square. I'm rooting for Biden to be a good president, and I hope we can heal from the nonsense that has occurred.
Character matters. I don't live in Utah, but if I did I would vote for Mitt Romney even against a Democrat who has 100% the same positions as me. Why? Because I think having people who are willing to go against their own party when it's wrong is very important. It shows that he cares more about his conscience than staying in power. For the Ted Cruz's and Hawley's of congress, what shame. They think holding on to their power is more important than democracy itself. For sure, there is no way Ted Cruz likes Trump. As we have seen, Mitch McConnel and Lindsay Graham don't like Trump. They just tried to play along until it was too much. Why would Ted Cruz support Trump who he called a pathological liar? Trump accused his Cruz's father of killing JFK, claimed rigged election when Ted Cruz won a primary, and insulted his wive's looks! Even with all that Cruz grovels at Trump's feet.
On my last year in highschool (which, unfortunately, was hampered by the pandemic), I learned that the president is meant to be the representative of the American people as a whole. So yeah, character does indeed matter.
True, he’s been here for years, and he’s not intimidated by a child throwing tantrums. I respect Mitt Romney so much more. He showed his true colors, he’s a man of integrity and he’s not perfect but damn he has respect and pride that can never be taken away, he’s a true man of class. These politicians need to take a lesson from him.
@The Joker Lol is that the best you can do? As if anyone who lived through that presidential bid never heard of the 47% comment? That right there is proof of Mitt Romney's character. Also he's 73, so I'm not sure when "before it's too late" would be, but certainly it would be before now.
@Og Dlad Romney has been telling you the truth about how he felt about Trump and the election fraud claims since the beginning. If you think he is pure evil I wonder how you currently feel about guys like Pence, Graham and McConnell who didn't have the spine to tell people what they believed until they were forced into a corner. If you look at their voting scorecard you will also see that Romney has consistently voted more conservative than either Graham, McConnell and a dozen other Republicans that played Trump followers like a fiddle to try and keep their support. People don't need to agree with what comes out of Romney's mouth but understand he respects his voters enough to let them know where he stands so they can make an informed decision. Also, he probably represents the beliefs of the people of Utah as they just elected Spencer Cox who is pretty much in line with Romney.
@@matthewsahr5205 His concession speech (remember those?) was very honorable. Hopefully in 4 years we'll get a decent Republican candidate again. Choice would be nice.
The sad reality is if the 25th Amendment is used against Trump, it will be invoked a second time against Biden shortly after his inauguration and for the real reason it was written, either physical incapacity or mental incompetence. Biden has dementia and it is worsening almost by the day. So, you're really looking at a Harris presidency, which is also sad, since she isn't the brightest bulb in the darkness. Slo' Joe will likely be convinced to resign with the incentive of a very attractive financial arrangement. AMEN! I met Romney in Fl after the impeachment vote. When I walked by, he was praising the constitution. He absolutely means this. I told him the nation was watching him, and we were so proud. I'm glad he's continuing his efforts to support the US.
My state Governor is a Republican, and I think Mike DeWine has handled his affairs very well in regards to covid-19! Before 2020, I don’t think I’d have said anything good about any elected Republican except Lincoln...
No gavel though... He was gonna let them clap for as long as they wanted on that one.. Combination of three of truth, the power of the message, and the revere for the man who delivered it.. I thought that was significant..
Kudos to Senator Romney. It's reassuring to note that we still have a few statesmen left amid the current rabble populating the Republican House and Senate.
Trump must be held accountable for what happened. For the life lost today and the thousands lives lost to COVID-19. He must be jailed for the rest of his miserable life
You know, as a young Utahan, back in '18, I shrugged and checked the box next to Romney mostly just because he was the Republican. I think I made the right choice.
Weird that when this was happening in Portland, Chicago, California and New York nothing was said by the media. Nothing was said at all. They didn’t bash those people like they did today! I don’t care what side your on it’s not right just can’t stand when it’s ok for one side and not the other!
I agree a double standard is not correct, but that’s not what this is, they weren’t just protesting, They are literally trying to stop the will of the people to elect and make a smooth transition for the newly elected President. Doesn’t, it upset you regardless of political affliction to see Americans turning on each other because of a Megalomaniac? I’m not a republican but my god I have respected Republicans, through out history Dwight D Eisenhower to name one, someone who couldn’t speak about D Day because it brought tears to his eyes because he understood the full weight of War and here comes Trump who never served a day making horrible remarks about American soldiers well my grandfather was captured by Germans in world war two was starved, beaten and tortured and never turned on his comrades. Trump a was a always a cheesy con man a tv personality, but after the comments he made about Mccain and the military, i just don’t under how any rational republican could respect that man, the amount of rationalization i see people who like trump go to make believe how great he is. Trump has no respect for the constitution, the basic principles of this country and is willing to trade our security and unity in for a a shadow second of ego pleasing, he has no honor.
When everybody started clapping you could tell he was reflecting at his own defeat and felt the loss. He was about to tear up. I truly feel for Romney. That’s a politician with dignity. He spent he’s whole life around it. I’m not even republican.
