As I have only just obtained a squire ss65 with a kaba 20 core,I had no reason or need to investigate this great core. A great job on first PICKING, then the confidence in taking the core apart. You gave a very good explanation with the picking, and indeed all the procedures You followed with after. Thanks for a great vid on a great lock, billbobaggins.
Thanks! Kaba locks pretty universally have all of their chambers drilled the same. Since they almost never fill all of the chambers, this means it needs to be designed in a way that always prevents drivers from entering the empty pin chambers. As a result, it allows the lock to be spun a full rotation after picking.
Great pick and really informative! Didn't know it can be turned 360 😃 that means the lock could be gutted when picked, just to leave a row with 3 pins in... The key would funktion as normal (maybe smoother) but the lock could easily be picked again.
Great pick and awesome video, thanks for sharing. I'll watch the whole process and listen to you ramble about random shit. I'm very interested in what's inside cuz I just got a kaba 20 cam lock and I'm very excited to try to pick it! Doubt I'll get it for a while though.
Haha, alright, I'll be sure to keep talking about nothing while I gut locks, then. My recommendation for picking it is to remove everything but the diagonal pins and get a feel for those, particularly how much tension you need to bind them, and what tools work for you to pick them. They were deceptively difficult to get a feel for, at least for me.
