I feel like a fangirl when I watch your videos, lol! Your art resonates with me in a way I don't really feel anywhere else. It's exactly the way I want to paint in abstract. I call you an artist with a big A. Your mind is always "arting" isn't it? You looked so cute as always this week. Thank you for taking us to the castle and thank you SO much for sharing!
@@gaynorpattle I'm doing well thank you! I seem to be somewhat obsessed with painting and I'm terrible at it. Have only been giving it a go this year and I'm 63. Mostly doing watercolor. Tried acrylic but can't do a thing with it even though it's what I would like to use to do abstracts. Thanks again for sharing your art with us!
@@jodirankin5901 Jodi, this makes me smile....just keep going because that obsession will give you a direction !! There is no rush and age means nothing, just keep your passion and play as much as possible. 🥰
@@jodirankin5901 I hope you are keeping at it Jodi! I feel much like you - a Gaynor fangirl, because her art so resonates with me too, and terrible at abstracts. But as I keep at it (mostly acrylics, some watercolour) I feel there is a little improvement. We need a Gaynor Fangirl Retreat! I'm in Canada and keeping my fingers crossed to spend this coming winter in Europe. Maybe we can convince Gaynor to do a fangirl retreat in England! 🙂 I feel like I could use two whole weeks just playing with her every day - with the occasional trip out to see the sights, and maybe doing some plein air sketching. What about it Gaynor? It has to be affordable for us seniors, though (I'm older than fangirl Jodi), so maybe we book an AirBnb, and you book a big room for us to play in? You just have to share in person what you are doing in your own work - no big "teaching" business. Just an artist and her fangirls playing with paints together!
I love your cone flowers. I have a neighbor (I live in NYState) who loves her cone flowers so I made her a crocheted cone flower. She adored it. I love making people happy, I think you do too! Glad your having another pop up! Congratulations. Started in my home made concertinas today. Such fun. Thanks for all your encouragement.❤
Thankyou Gaynor 😊 Lots of lovely things happening - your excitement is palpable and contagious! 😊 Loving what’s happening with the large long canvas! My take home - ‘There’s definitely something in working with ideas/inspiration in that moment as they occur and getting something down on paper before attention is grabbed by something new and the moment is lost’ - and those moments can turn in to days all too easily 🙄- invaluable lesson! ❤
Lovely video as always Gaynor. Putting medium over your card-as it is acrylic you could let it dry then go in with acrylic paint including posca pen again. The medium saves your work.then you add more if necessary. Have a lovely experimental week.
Thank you Gaynor 🙏🏻 Wonderful as always. Your creativity and excitement is contagious as ever. The sunflower piece is stunning and my eye kept getting drawn to it so when you said you were thinking of cutting it I was thinking “no! it’s beautiful as it is”. I will be watching with anticipation for what you have planned for it and am sure whatever you do will be amazing. Look forward to next weeks instalment. Have a fabulous week💛🌻💛🌻💛
Hello Andrea, lovely to read your comment, thank you so much for supporting my art channel. I did cut it !!!!! AND you were right, I should have left it but I can attempt to make another 😂Have a great week too 🥰
Hi Gaynor 🌼 Loved ❤️ your quirky building sketch! Scotney was so beautiful! Don’t limit yourself by not drawing buildings, your style is quirky and charming. You are a natural Artist, it doesn’t seem to matter what you draw, it’s just charming and full of your character. Love what you do ❤️
Ahh Teresa, reading this fills me with joy, thank you for your support. I am so glad that you messaged as we are heading back to Dorset and top of the agenda is your Ringstead Bay Walk. I will try and film and mention you if that is ok ? Have a lovely week 🥰
@@gaynorpattle Ahh Thanks Gaynor 🙏 xxx I see myself as quite an accomplished Artist but I must admit I’m kinda in Awe of you, even Starstruck! 🤩 You are such a natural Artist. Don’t change for others or think that you’re not good enough at something because your own style is so unique…. You stand out amongst the rest. So go and play and paint your buildings etc., because they are Great!!! 🤩 Hope you find the walk ok..you start at the top of a massive hill car park. Starting facing the sea turn left and make your way towards a farm house along top of hill. Do not go past farmhouse turn right to start going down the hill. Make your way down towards the coast… it’s pretty straightforward from then on. The views are something else! So beautiful! The walk continues along the coast to the Smugglers Inn. I think I’ve sort of covered the rest when I spoke to you about it. It’s a steep walk back up the hill to the car park but you look fitter than me . 🤸♂️ 🏋🏻♂️ Hope you have an Amazing Time!! Yay! Yes totally fine to mention me. Xx 🙏 🌟🌟😊
@@teresaedwards4175 Teresa, I am very humbled by your lovely compliment. Your words will buoy me up when I wonder what on earth I think I'm doing !! We have had a look on maps and your directions are clear, can't wait to be there now ! X
Another fabulous fun video ❤ You can add a gloss layer by putting a thin coat on your gel plate and putting that on the card. It won’t smear it so much, if at all 😁
I enjoyed your trip to the Castle and can identify with not feeling comfortable drawing architecture....dont know where to start, how much to put in, etc. It is hard but you do a great job in your own style 😊
Love your energy and sense of adventure. You inspire me to be proud of imperfection, because perfect (or an attempt at perfect) is boring. Thank you for your fun, light-hearted videos.❤
I really enjoyed your video this week Gaynor. You are very inspiring and I love your work. I also like your honesty when you make a mistake and turn it around. I shall try and be creative this week and see you next week.
Another lovely video. It was interesting to see your long painting was influenced by Whitby, not far from my home town in beautiful North Yorkshire. Coastal area that has influenced David Hockney so much as you will know. My husband passed away very suddenly a couple of years ago and I am nowhere near being a professional artist, but I got all my old painting things out and just decided to spend time using them all up as I haven’t painted for a couple of decades. (Family commitments, time etc 😂). You have inspired me so much. A very big Thankyou. 😁👍
We absolutely loved North Yorkshire, visiting for the first time last year. Use up your old painting things and then get a few more - don't stop now ! Have a fantastic week 🥰
Another joyful video. My brain keeps up with your brain. My hands not so much and that's OK! So love the cards and the oops with the gloss medium! That's real art making.
I've been in Greece on holiday, and the reason for looking forward to returning home is, to watch what you have been creating since I've been away! I sketch in the "usual" fashion, but I would love to become more adventurous as per your work. You are so inspirational in the way you build ideas. Note to self, make marks without making a picture!!
Love to see your excitement when happy things evolve in your process. So hungry to be surrounded by the colors and textures of your beautiful surroundings - nothing like English gardens, sunshine , tea and art play!!! Thanks for a lovely visit.
Love my Thursday mornings with you! Your generous spirit and willingness to share your process with others in very inspirational. Always sets a great tone for the day. Thank yo.
I love Scotney Castle! - we used to visit when I lived in Tonbridge. We went back a couple of years ago, and I'm glad to see the walled garden is not neglected like it was then. Great video; thank you for sharing and good luck with the pop-up. :)
I love your ideas, your experimentation and your joy. Oh-also how you are so fearless. When you added that green earlier on in the video to your sketchbook I thought “oh no,”…..and it turned out well 😊. I’ve been trying acrylics recently and have still to find my way. Your videos inspire me to try new ways of working. Thank you.
Loved this video! You are into so many projects and experiments at the same time, but you manage to keep “going forward,” as you say. BRAVO and BRILLIANT! You are such an expiration for creativity-dragging us along with you is our pleasure😂
Beautiful gelli prints! I love the look of Scotney ...about an hour and a half from us....I feel a day trip coming on! I live minutes from Clivedon,Buckinghamshire another National Trust...stunning gardens. Topiary birds and spiraly trees...you have now inspired me to take a sketch book and have a go!!
Hello Vanessa, We were so lucky with the weather for a trip to Scotney and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will make a note of Clivedon because 'spiraly trees' have sold it to me 😂 Have a fantastic week 🥰
Lovely video. So, I've forgotten - how long do you set on your porridge timer? I love those speed drawings... And I love how your sketchbooks tell a story of what's happening in your life 🥰🥰🥰 More please!!! Ps also loved your outfit changes this week.. feel like they tell a story too 😆
AHH Hello my PRECIOUS 😍 low setting on the micro for 5 mins - how I have moaned about that fancy pants microwave BUT now I say 'bring on the five minutes......I can wait" 😂😂❤❤❤
Hi, to stop the smearing with the gloss medium, Brayer it onto the Gelli plate, & then put your card down onto it. No movement of colour that way. Cheers, Gay N. Loving your videos, they came into my feed a few weeks ago, watching them totally out of sequence, so very good!
Just found your channel a few days ago and have been really enjoying all of your videos. You’re very inspiring. I’ve been painting for 48 years and hit a little lul…. And have been getting inspiration thank you.
Just referred you ( on Sketches and Scrubs latest video) as my latest wonderful artist discovery who is very much worthwhile for other artists investigating. I often leave your channel on as my backdrop in addition to gobbling up new videos. Love your style and your fun personality.
I get walled garden envy. A couple of times a year the Duke of Westminster opens his gardens at Eaton Hall, Chester. I spend most of my time in the walled garden being envious of the espalier redcurrants and pears, the step over apples and the runner beans.
Your teapots bring to mind Clarice Cliff. When pulling your gelli print, drop your hand and pull across, almost horizontal, rather than up, less chance of leaving design on gelli plate or tearing design parts from your picture.
Love Love Love your videos. You are so inspiring. I am new to art and wonder if you would share what type of pen you use for your sketching? Thank you!
Hello Gaynor, I just stumbled across your video & really enjoyed it. I’ve been making Art process videos too they take a lot of time to edit etc. How do you manage it ever week! Well done! 😊
Hello and Welcome, I love hearing from new viewers and the answer to your question is "I don't know" 😂 I try not to think about it too much because my anxiety level would go through the roof ! Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a lovely comment 🥰
Again another great video, love the concertina. Playing is the name of the game as you always teach us having a go and coming out with something amazing.
Thanks, Gaynor for another lovely, juicy jam-packed video. Love my Thursday slot watching your creative explorations, problem-solving, and whole approach in general, to your art." It takes courage to be creative." I think Matisse said that. And courageous you are!!! Happy creating!
Hi Gaynor great video again this week. Just love the variety of your work and the ideas you show us all. I thought of you last week as I had a day trip to Hastings. I spent lots of time round the Old Town, visited the Castle and Hastings Contemporary Art Gallery where I had a great lunch sitting out on the veranda. Took lots of photo’s to inspire me. Loving your concertina work of Scotney Castle and the way you work back into the drawings. 😊
I think you were quite wise to create a space full of light (with a garden view!) to nurture your creativity. You always seem unrestrained while moving from piece to piece. Rather like Tinker Bell flitting about sparking joy with every flick of the wand ❤
Thank you, Gaynor. Loved the buildings done ‘your’ way. By your brave, open example, you offer encouragement to all who visit here. Your own artwork is evolving so beautifully. Thanks from County Durham 😊
I really like the balance of colours in your tea pot paintings! Your concertina sketchbook is a work of art on its own - loving all the textures and experiments in it. Have a great week Gaynor! 😊
Hello Gaynor, proportions and perspective not on your radar, that made me smile. I love the way you do your own thing regardless of restrictions like that. I also love the comment that we should be willing to do something badly in order to DO SOMETHING! Wise words indeed. Good luck with the pop up exhibition. Have a lovely week. 💐
Hello Fiona, How are you ? I've been attempting more buildings and drew a few boats this morning !! Thank you for your good wishes, anxiety always rolls in at the thought of exhibiting but I keep telling myself "it's just art" !!! I hope you are enjoying this amazing late summer X
@@gaynorpattle I’m fine thank you, and yes, loving the hotter weather. Better late than never! No need at all for anxiety. You are very talented, and your work is inspirational and uplifting. Always a good combination, particularly in these times. Hope we get to see your latest endeavours on Thursday! I always look forward to your videos as you know.💐
What a joy to see Scotney, one day soon I will come to UK and visit these magical places! Love your gel plate printing, try some flat leaves sometime too, you'll be amazed. Your paintings are so inspiring, love how the two played off each other! I'm definitely making my first concertina today! You are so inspiring to us in your creativity, and I thank you so much. When I see a new video of yours, I always say out loud (to no one in particular) "Oh goodie" Thanks Gaynor!
@@gaynorpattle :-) Thanks will do. I just bought some balloon flowers at the market, they should lie flat and be interesting, who knows?? Leaves are fun, and when they get paint on both sides you can press them between waxed paper (or deli sheets), press them and use them all winter :)
Just wanted to say thank you for your insights and inspiration. I feel more confident moving forward with my own creative process because of your example of experimentation, trial and error (never much error 😂), and joy! ❤
Incredible! Such a productive week! It would be difficult for me to not love every effort and result you've shown - especially your attempt at the building drawing. I encourage you to keep playing in that area especially as a backdrop or compliment to subjects such as garden - no need for perfection - the eye just needs to capture enough for the brain to say "oh look there's a wall, there's a window, there's a building". Your use of colour with your sketching brings it all together with such impact. Thank you so much for continuing to share your journey, your learning and your perspective on trying things. I recognize that these videos take significant effort. Be well Gaynor!
I loved your, “be willing to do something badly in order to be able to do it at all” comment. I think that’s how you said it. It’s a little different take on how I’ve heard the “do bad art” quote. It’s more motivating. Thank you for your inspiring and sweetly crisp and cheery videos. ❤
