Mixed Media May! - Drop Paper Journals - Part 1 

You are making me want to get out my art journal! Thank you, that was a lot of fun...looking forward to seeing part II!

Please have some more DROP PAPER DOODLE DAYS! This was so much fun to watch and now I must go to my playroom and make more art! I enjoy watching you play with art supplies on paper. And never lose your sense of humor. It relieves stress and so does crafting!

"Just for playing" has to be one of the best statements. We all should do more "just for play". The world is serious enough. Thanks for sharing your arty play time with us. xx

Slowly I am adding to my craft supplies including stencils, inks and paints. So much out there to play with. Your videos have inspired me to play during icad this year too. I am really loving mixed media May and I hope you continue to add mixed media videos within your journal videos too. I love the idea of just playing for the sake of it :-) thank you Gayle. You really have changed my life and perspective over the last year :-)

When I was teaching, I used my desk calendar pages to make note pads and scrap paper for the students. We did a class project in which we collected papers from other class recycle bins and made books from them. It was great for teaching measuring, cutting, sewing, and ecology.

I love this idea.....using the kids old papers!!

So much fun and very relaxing to do in between projects to kinda clear your mind. After watching this I dug out my mandala coloring books I haven't touched in a long time!! Darn it.....house cleaning first...😂 💜

Great idea for my kids school paintings and my grandkids paintings x

My grands are 18 to 22 and when I was cleaning out the toy closet I found finger painted pictures they'd done at least 15 years ago - they've become pages in several journals I've made for my husband and I. So precious!!

I love you reactions! Ooooh that was fun! Isn’t it so fun to play with grandkids. My oldest grandson used to say “I want to do craps(instead of crafts ) with grandma “ when he was really young.

What fun!!! I've made a couple small drop paper journals and just left them because the papers were so yummy "as is" i love looking thru them once in a while. and i love Timmy's dauber bottle paints-i only have 2 colors and can't find them anywhere-i used them all the time-now i hoard them-lol how extra special to have things from the grandkids on pages. i missed the ones you sold today :-( i know whoever got one them will be thrilled. sometimes when i use gelatos, i use a baby wipe to smear the color around and then have a yummy baby wipe for later use. i love those Shannon stencils too. ohhh goody-a part 2! i love it when your having fun and "just playin" it inspires me so much :-)

Thanks, Gayle! After I watched your Mixed Media May where you used Modelling Paste & Dylusions Sprays on a page, I had to order some of the sprays!! (I was waiting until I had a good reason!) I LOVE THEM!! Now I want to use them everywhere!! I did learn that they take a while to dry, though, so plan for that!! Fun, fun!!

You can buy replacement lids for the distress paint, and I think that you can thin it with a little water and then when you are watching tv, you can just shake them up like a crazy person later.

How about mixed media Mondays? So fun!

Cover that thick fabric/scrapbook paper dropcloth with clear contact paper and use it as a placemat, probably for one of the grandkids. I used to cut up Yule cards and make those for my twins when they were little. Those finished dropcloth pages would be great backgrounds if you backed them and then cut like the book Franken pages into tags and journal cards.

Hi Gayle! I have been really curious about Brushos? If you have time...maybe you could show us how they work. They are so pretty on the pages. Although.....I really don't want to buy more supplies. lol

Smart thinking on the real junk papers I usually throw away..what a neat idea, wish I didn’t throw away my not so nice papers...this is a great video to watch & learn..

So fun!! A thought for ya. What if you had like an auction for them and donated your funds to your school. I feel so sad for the kids this year that got robbed of so much, especially our seniors. They are so fun though!! Great idea. 🤗

Do a little bit of background on some, leave some just as they are and finish a couple of pages to give the buyer inspiration. I think they would sell.

Love the scrapbook paper (almost a) cover....could you cut it up to make tags/journal cards? I love how it looks patchwork/quilted! I need to make something similar but foldable for a cover. Hmmmm, off to think.

I’ve been cleaning out my cooking magazines ( and I mean a looooot.) and I’d like to make some journals out of them . How would you start? I just finished making 21 memory journals out of my moms crochet,sewing and cooking books. Lots of fun. Inspiration from you. So I had a plan for those but not sure about the magazines. Your ideas would be great. Love everything you do, and I just picked up a gelli plate and I love it. I just don’t have enough hours in the day to craft🤣😂. Thanks, keep up the great videos.

Oh, I love the fun of these. So tactile and you can do pretty much anything in them. I do have a question now that you have the larger Gelli plate, would you recommend starting with that since it does 8x10s better?

Helpful hint~ You can drop a glass bead or two in your paint bottle to shake it up break the paint"boogies" up. I get the cheapest ones while on sale! 😉

Suggestion: Cut that stiff page (scrapbook paper and fabric) and use your cinch to bind it since it’s too stiff to fold

Hi, Gayle, on the cover that won’t bend well, try scoring it on a score board (really hard) on both sides. Maybe that will help it bend.
