Mixed Media Monday! - Decoupage! - Altered Playing Cards & Postcards!

Hi Miss Gayle! Love how everything turned out..I'm definitely going to try doing the playing card,and the post card ones too when I get some.. I have a very sweet friend that sent me goodie box and it was FULL with so many awesome thing...Then she also sent a LOT of different styles and sizes of beautiful napkins..There were like 4 or 5 of them I put in a special container cause they are so neat.. My favorite one has two ladies in a kitchen,a 1950's look,and I'm doing a 1950's Retro Kitchen journal now,lol That napkin would go Perfect in my journal,but I just can't use it cause I have one like it.. But I do have a whole lot more I can use..We are very blessed when we have friends like mine that have such big hearts❤️ Thnx again Miss Gayle for another great project that helps newbies like me out! I feel mixed media is more about working with paints. Remember you are the captain of this journey. You can makes anytime you want. Big hug always. I have the same playing cards but I got mine at Walgreens and paid a higher price then I normally would. But I liked the antique look. I was hoarding them. Will get them out a play with them. They are my forgotten items too.

I am so glad you shared this idea, I really like the effect decoupaging napkins on the cards and postcards turned out. I never thought to do this, I only covered mine with papers. I just spent the day putting watered down matte medium on faux leather paper. Now I’m going to be spending the evening getting the glue off my fingers. Love the cards. They are all unique. Thanks for sharing, you always leave me with more ideas.

Funny story … my cat has a human name. Every so often, you say hi and hugs to her. It startles me every time. Like my cat has a secret junk journaling RU-vid habit? 😁😁😁 then I laugh. Thank you for making me smile. 💕

Speaking of your pouches, if one wanted to put tags on to know what's in them the round white tags that have the metal around them from Dollar Tree can be attached with a string or a ring (like a key ring) to the zipper. HI Gayle!! I love the look of decoupaged napkins on anything!! It's just such a pretty look and a bit of a textured feel!! Yours are very pretty!! TFS!! Hugs, Liz:)

I didn't have any Autumn napkins so I used the blank backs of the napkins (which I save when I tear them off as you do). I stamped various leaves and other fall symbols on the paper using Momento permanent ink and then decoupaged them as normal. VOILA!

The cards and postcards are so pretty! Now I need to go on the hunt for pretty napkins! LOL!😂 TYFS ❤

I love the idea of decoupaging on the playing cards and post cards. I’ve been decoupaging napkins over music in an old music book I got. The music comes through nicely. I leave the pages in the book and tear out what I want as needed.

I really liked the playing cards. I have altered some but never really liked how they came out. Will have to give this a go again. I don't have postcards but will keep an eye out for some to try this technique on too. Have a blessed day!

Good afternoon, Gayle. I did a mass make of the napkin/playing card combo. When they were dry I sewed around the edges for an extra layer. I love how quick it is to make great ephemera!

Good morning Gayle. Love the decoupage. When I am using napkins I use an emery board I get at the $ store to file the edges. It makes a very nice edge. Works well when they are dry. Thanks for sharing this with us.❤

Hey Gayle! Love doing decoupage, so this was fun for me to watch. I'm not sure, but a couple of those napkins look familiar...the apple and birds? Maybe they were part of the Gayle mail I sent a few years ago? I don't remember if they are, but I know I have those in my stash. Would be cool if they were and that you can still use them. 😊 I've done playing cards like that, but not postcards. I'll have to give that a try, too. Also, if anyone needs to give their playing cards an antique look first, I suggest mod podging down tea stained tea bags. Then immediately mod podge the napkin design. I'v done that and it turns out very nice. Hope your day is going well. It's very muggy here in Central PA. We are definitely looking forward to some of the cooler Fall weather that'll soon be here. The holidays are just around the corner, too. I'm looking forward to seeing the Christmas journals you'll be making this year. They always turn out so beautiful. Anyway, hugs! Sue ♥

I love the playing cards. Each one is absolutely beautiful.

I’ve seen others use painter”s tape when separating the layers from the actual napkin. It’s tacky, but not so much that, in most cases would tear the backing papers.

I just love thet antoque lookig cards as they are. They looks intetesting now alterd and decupaged but i would have a few of them as a ephemera just original look
