Barbara this page was amazing! I’m not a big fan of mixed media because it usually looks like the artist is just making a mess. Yet your mixed media has some control to it and you add such special touches that I really enjoy watching you do mixed media! I really enjoy all your videos, no matter the subject! Hugs💕
i love the page that you just made in your new journal but i really looooove the pages that you showed us in your 2016 journal - i would like to try and recreate those as well - thank you for the inspiration Barbara - be well xx
The minute you opened your journal I knew it was Marta's influence! I love her. Been a fan for several years. We chat on messenger some so I sent her the link for this video. I'm sure she will appreciate the shout out. I love what you did. It was an update to the old. And I blew the copper would make an appearance. Lol it sounds like you should get a new glue gun. I even have some of the mini ones and they don't leak like that. Maybe a cool gun. TFS ❤❤❤
Thanks so much Laura! I’m happy you enjoyed this and thanks for sending this to Marta! 😬😃 Maybe I should get a new glue gun, although mine did that from the beginning...
Love this page. I did a journal cover with lots of textures like lace, burlap, and tape. I followed with gesso and acrylic paint and then I put a crackle medium on top of that followed by more acrylic and some silver wax. It was quite the process but you have me wanting to do a page like that with a message of some sort. Maybe I should put it in that journal!
You can definitely see Marta’s influence by the butterflies and the addition of black ink. It does, indeed, show how much fun you were having with your art.
Oh no, I’ve fallen so far behind! Tomorrow is devoted to finishing envelope journals from your last video. But I live for your Junk Journal Me episodes and am really looking forward to working my way through the Summer 2020 prompts. And as luck would have it, I have one of Alison’s ‘ledger’ journals probably from a year ago which I have yet to use! Once again, love that you’ve given me permission to conquer that blank page!
One of the many reasons I love watching you is that you take chances. So many stay only within their comfort zones that they don't take any chances or spread their wings. You fly and take us with you, thanks.
Honestly I have been binging on your video for a time 😂 and have to say you are so underrated compared to your talent and deserve much more❤ so all the best for fiture goals.👍
So much fun to watch you do this! It is a great idea to go back in time to sort of recreate things. And as you see, you get an updated version. Lovely! And inspiring as always. 😘😘
I love to hear your little chuckles and giggles as you are creating. The whole purpose of crafting is to bring joy-and it’s obvious from watching you that you love what you’re doing. This technique is WAY outside my comfort zone (and outside my craft supply stash) but I would watch you paint anything because it brings a smile to my heart. 😘
Barbara, you make me happy! I love your laughter, your nervousness (which we all know from trying things we haven’t done in a while), and your unabashed delight at the things you love. One alternative to the hot glue is heavy gel medium. It needs to be heavy for items of that weight, and then you have to let it dry, but at least it doesn’t burn you! Years and years ago when I did more hot glue projects, I used to joke that I may as well just put some on my hand to start with, because I’m going to burn myself sooner or later...
Oh Barbara I just love watching your videos. I was amused at the hint of nervousness in your giggle which adds spice to your videos. The page turned out amazing as always and so much to be learned from it. Thank you for sharing and reminding us of all those forgotten items in our stash. Take care and stay safe.
I love how the carpet tape looks! I don't have very many painting supplies, but gesso has been on my Amazon wish list for a while. Maybe it is time to buy something new. Ironic since this craft with me is about using something old...lol.
Your art journal pages from long ago is very nice and it already shows your love for grunge that you use today in your junk journaling. I started off with art journaling as well. I have several Dyalusions and Dina Wakely journals, but unfortunately I never filled up any of them. I take out a lot of their papers to use in my JJ now. I should actually practice doing collage with bits and pieces in them. Im not very good at collaging. Happy crafting ❤
I just love that your stress over using old supplies can be heard and felt. It’s exactly how I feel when I try something new in a journal. Beautiful work! Thanks for all of your inspiration!🖤
Wow 🤩😍😍😍 old techniques for you and completely new for me! I have never made textured pages like these. Love this and am going to try something like this🥰 Have a beautiful Sunday 🌞😘
I love your giggles! The copper paste wax is fantastic! I have some...in silver... I hope to use it soon. Does using a glue gun provide long-term adherence? I’ve been afraid to use... Thanks for sharing! ❤️
When I see a new video from you, I find myself saying, "Oh, Yay!" I know I'll always enjoy whatever you choose to do, and I also get a kick out of your giggles, especially when the copper gilding wax makes an appearance. This prompt and page turned out super fun!
Oh my gosh! Your art journal was amazing! Your new page was as well! I loved it ❤ You always demonstrate a technique so that everyone feels that they can do it and it will turn out fabulous. I can't wait to try art journaling "Barbara style"! TSMFS!
Such a beautiful page, where you look, on every cm, you cand find something hidden♥♥♥ So i hope at many more of this kind of videos :) I can't use a glue gun, is a mess always, so i started to glue things with some industrial glue, and i was surprised that nothing is moving after so many years of climat changes, from humidity to dry heat and everything else. Thank you for this extra, have a beautiful sunday!
Barbara, going forward, when using the glue gun, take the glue stick out until you get ready to use it. I believe you will have to take it out after the gun gets hot. So next time when you have finished using the glue gun, take it out while it’s still hot. Love your videos. TFS
Maybe do one or two art journal spread in that journal per month. That would keep your paint skills sharp, and you would eventually finish the book. I have a large dilutions journal to finish, but have so many book projects going, that I don’t have time. I am a little envious of people who got to stay home during C-19 as I had to work my regular schedule straight thru (but I didn’t lose my job, either, so that was good). I love working on projects when I do get days off.
