Definitely, getting a really nice green can be hard. I don't use Phthalo Green on its own either, apart from very specific cases (shining iridescent feathers, some butterflies). But it's a great mixer!

Very informative and interesting I'm trying to learn mixing colors it's a hard process for me...I bought Michele webber posters that have mixing colors together on them....and with help from other artists teachers like you thru out the world I'm going to be able to learn about combining colors I'm not sure if my brain will be able to grasp these techniques without some type of cheat sheet with me..but it's a start and repeating techinques ( combining colors together) will move me along in my art journery... could you tell me how long it took you to master combining mixes to get good at this...did you go to college or are you self taught like me....mikelle art mom👩🎨🎨✍( many art blessings and peace and safety to ukranian artists🙏✌💙💛🕊)
Mikelle, the more you practice this the more you will learn, and it will get easier at one point. Just keep practicing! I went to art school, but I didn't really learn a practical approach on color theory or mixing then, it was more like trial and error. But that's fine too. When I started painting more with waterclors, I used to create huge mixing charts for all of the colors I had, painting out every combination. This acted as a "shortcut" whenever I needed a specific color. I still pull out these charts sometimes, but over time I've learnt a bit better how the colors combine. You're doing it just right - use all the resources on the internet and in books, there are so many excellent teachers out there today!

Hallo Julia, ich schaue schon eine Weile immer mal wieder Videos von Dir. Stehe noch ziemlich am Anfang meines Aquarell-Lebens, und lerne viel von Deinen Videos. Heute habe ich eine Frage: Habe ich das richtig verstanden, dass ich mir meine Farbnäpfe mit Gelbtönen dauerhaft verderbe, wenn ich da mit phtalo green reingehe? Und wenn ja, warum ist das so und warum nur bei Gelbtönen? Besteht diese Gefahr auch noch bei anderen Farbmischungen? Und wenn das der Fall sein sollte, wo kann ich erfahren, welche Farben besser nicht miteinander gemischt werden sollten, um sie nicht dauerhaft zu verderben? Viele Grüße und danke!
Hallo Liisa, nein, dauerhaft passiert da nichts, es findet keine Reaktion statt. Man kann in den allermeisten Fällen die Farbe mit einem nassen Pinsel wieder aufnehmen, oder mit Wasser über die Palette gehen, bis das Gelb wieder leuchtet. Man sieht halt bei Gelb jede noch so kleine Verschmutzung, wenn man also ein reines Gelb für eine andere Stelle braucht und da noch Grün oder Blau mit drin sind, kann das schon mal ärgerlich sein. Passiert im Alltag aber auch mir immer wieder. ;-) Schön, dass du was aus meinen Videos mitnimmst, ich wünsch dir ganz viel Spaß beim Malen!
@@NatureSketchbook Ah, vielen Dank. Das war dann ein Missverständnis von mir. Ich dachte, da wäre irgendwas in der Farbe, so dass man das Gelb nicht mehr sauber bekommt. Danke für die Aufklärung! :-)
