NS10’s and that jacket mate! What a combo!

Great Video Adam! I learned to mix in a studio with a pair of ns10s, a pair of aurotones and a pair of giant JBLs. I know what they sound like. Years later I have the avantone versions of the first two. Again, I will know that things will sound good when I hear them on them. For hi-res stuff I have a pair of focal audiophile speakers in the lounge room. Whatever you have, learn your ears! Again, thanks for the video, good to see you last week.

Bought a matched pair of NS-10s with fitting Yamaha Amplifier about a year back and wouldn't want to miss them. Useless for low-end, definitely need a Sub for those, but that aside: love it. And yeah, the weirdest thing that I noticed immediately way more were effects on voices. Somehow it's really easy dialing in juuuust the right amount of Reverb and Delay

One thing that's also really great on the ns10 is the transient response is so snappy.

I use Kali LP6s. They are good… but I don‘t really have an alternative to compare them to. Love the video

Stoked for you! Moved on to CLA-10as with the power amp built in my for my new, slimmed down setup. NS10's are absolutely fantastic. @@adamsteelproducer

NS-10 Studio are my go-to monitors for mixing

you mix only on ns10 ? which style of music you make ? I have ns10 at home, but I have better bass mix when I mix with my KRK.

Not completely relevant, but I have been absolutely loving D-Soniq Realphones. It's similar to Slate's VSX, but it works with a huge range of headphones, using an EQ correction and room/speaker emulation. It's extremely flexible and very convincing. I wasn't a fan of the Slates purely from a hardware perspective. I was so happy to find this solution. Would be interested to hear your take on it!

Ive read about NS10's before and my conclusion is that there is a bump in response in the midrange and perhaps an exaggerated high end. What i find interesting is your use of sonarworks to presumably flatten out the response and of course using a subwoofer also. By doing this you are pretty much making them work like more modern monitors like Genelecs, Neumann's, etc, by targeting a more flat response. This would seem to work against the premise that the midrange peak helps you hear annoying frequencies and then compensating for them. I guess what I'm saying is since you are using sonarworks on the NS10s you may as well use a flatter monitor to begin with since you're removing the defects in the NS10s anyway. Of course ultimately everyone has to learn their monitors and work from there. Anyway, thanks for an interesting video and sharing your impressions.

What speakers do you mix on? Have you considered going back to the old white cones?

I hoped I’d never see a pair of NS-10s again. The only things they were good for were: Deaf old producers with upper range hearing loss and people who just wanted to audition how bad their mixes would sound on cheap home hifis (like the Auratones for portable radios). For actual mixing with the intent to produce good sound, they were absolute dogshit. The SN10 is nothing at all like the NS-10; different cabinet size & shape, different driver material & design.

I’ve got another video coming that will prove your assertion quite wrong I think. Also Sonarworks does a huge amount of work in fixing shortcomings

How did you set up your sub with the ns 10 ? Cheers !

Plugged my outputs from the interface to the sub, then through to the amplifier for the NS10s. 85Hz filter for both teh sub and NS10s handled inside the Subwoofer

Confused. You EQ'd the NS10 out of the NS10?
@ChrisBessy
@ChrisBessy 9 месяцев назад
for me if you EQ'd the NS10, then it's not the real sound of NS10....

I was robbed by pros when I was away from home. They took my NS10s I bought back when they came out. They were kind enough to leave my Auratone 5 c . They are amazing to find if you do not push a track up by literally a hair it will be as if that track was never recorded in the first place. I have these since the 70's

That sn10s doesnt sound anything like the ns10s, and also doesn't look much to the original NS10's to me. The Avantones sound quite similar, and look closer to. The Swissonic ones, sound awful, but look very similar to the originals.
