@@Socialmediachat I usually will select a delay that I like and then decide where in the stereo field I want that delay to live. In this particular song, I just wanted a pretty standard 1/4 note delay. No extra widening was added, but That is a good idea when you really want a wide and unique sounding delay.

Awesome vid bro , you gained a sub . Nice to see some good techniques used , usually mixing tutorials are sub-par. One thing I started doing for my dubs that is similar to how you add a stereo effect that you may find interesting is using a flanger ; 0 rate , 0 depth , 0 delay , wide spread , medium motion speed , dry/wet 55-75 . It will really bring life to the dubs by creating an automated panning effect as well as achieving the wide spread . You can get crazy with it and add a chorus effect after that has reverb and delay sends. Again dope video I hope to see more soon !!

I always like watching mutliple videos on how people mix their vocals depending on the genre they're dealing with and although I'm not doing much hip hop it's kind of surprising but also cool to see that my approach is somewhat similar to yours. Whenever I mix stuff, especially genres I don't do often and if it's for somebody else, I just want to make sure that I'm giving my best and I always get happy when I watch awesome tutorials like yours and find out that our approaches don't differ that much. Its a great trick! But I do still use delay throws and automation for very specific delays where I need them. This trick is mainly for creating a space and pocket for the vocal to ride in.

@@MadRezStudios For ducking the delays on vocals ONLY, its easier for me to side chain vs creating a delay auxiliary, then drawing automation of where I want it to start and end for creating space and pocket for the vocals to properly sit in. Thats what i was saying.

Are you referring to my tracks being in Auto "read" mode? I do not do automation on every element but I do find myself automating specific parameters of plugins at times when I need them to adjust based on a certain part of the song.

@@btzhub6809 "Read" mode is just the basic playback mode. Even if you havent done any automation in your session, your tracks will be set to auto read mode by default. They only start to "read" automation after your "write" or add any automation.

@madrezstudios man when I turn my fader up with parallel compression it makes this phasy glass like sound :/ and every video I find to try and help only talk about drums and drum phasing:/

Phasing can happen to any audio signal. What processing are you using on your P Comp chain? I generally try to mute the original signal and just listen to the P Comp chain as I am processing it and get the energy/sound I want. Once I have that, I bring back the original audio and slowly blend in the P Comp signal until its achieving what I need.

When I turn the pcomp signal from the fader/send if I have it at 12 with or without plugins material they make this glassy phaser flanger sound

Did you add the ssl channel pre recording or post recording literally getting into the mixing session?

The SSL Channel is in my recording template so as soon as I finish recording a vocal take (usually with just a bit of compression and some reverb) then I drag the recorded vocal down to one of the tracks of the template that has the SSL channel loaded. Its literally only cutting the lowend from 120hz down. And then Ill use it for some slight EQ adjustments before going into the full vocal chain.

Send a version to the master that has a peak value around -6dbfs so the master engineer has full freedom over the volumes n all.

Yes, my main VOX and MUSIC busses are where I set my final balance between the vocals and music before going to my mixbus and getting processed as a whole.

120hz roll off is standard. Only crisp studio vocals on a crazy mic should be rolled off at like 80hz.

What does it mean to bus your lead vocals?

It just means to "send" or "route" your lead vocal tracks to an Aux track. This way I can process multiple tracks at once or send multiple lead parts to the same Aux or "bus" track for processing.
