I 've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on these tools and I never use them. This video made me want to fire up my DAW and give this thing another chance. I liked Nectar 2 better than Nectar 3 but I'm still going to give it another go because this video was inspiring to me. Thank you for this.
Well, too bad, because these are all in the 'pro' version you can ONLY GET in the subscription service... so all your hundreds of dollars (and mine) are for nothing. Thanks iZotope!
@@RevRyukin7 Actually every single tip from this video works wirth nectar 3 plus, which is included in music production suite 4 and can be owned forever/updated to on it's own as well. In fact I am not aware of any added features in nectar Pro vs nectar Plus yet. Can't guarantee the latter though as I only own Nectar 3 Plus and not Pro. I can assure you every single feature shown in this video is included in Nectar Pro though, I just tested them all.
@@RevRyukin7 this is straight up false. you sound like someone that has seen people speak against subscriptions and decided to parrot them without understanding why they don’t like subscriptions or even understanding the product you’re talking about, instead just saying random factually false statements cuz “scripshuns bad but idk y but they r rly bad cuz some1 said they r”. Right now the only extra features I’m aware of in the sub are like 1 extra mundane option in the assistant for the plugins that have it. i don’t even remember what it is and I use neutron and ozone modules daily
Geoff you do such a great job of articulating these features, thanks. I know the channel has covered this, but I'd love to see a video of you personally using the iZotope ecosystem to mix a song from start to finish.
Didn’t find much use for Nectar Elements, however the recent Nectar 3 Plus is the bomb - in particular features like the harmony module which is the best tool of it’s kind. It’s ability to use AI to find appropriate points for subtractive EQ is also a major timesaver in tuning vocal quality. The auto leveling feature effectively replaces the old level riding trick with an auto feature, another huge time saver. Elegant, succint and powerful.
"Tell us what the Next plug-in should be" Izotope, looking at Film Audio myself. Perhaps a feature of presets that lays tracks down in SMPT order, MONO plus time code. Stiching together tracks and replacing dialogue. Of Course LUFS, American and European. These things I am sure you have work arounds for in the present versions but a Film-Centric module would be great.
Fantastic video. I love the Izotope plug ins especially the Ozone pro help me a lot in the mastering process. I do have a question about this vocal plug in. I use it on different singers including myself. I am a professional opera singer. When use the assistant it mainly goes to rap, even when I sing an operatic aria which is very melodic. If I change it to singing the sound gets even worse and very ugly because of the second EQ choice the assistant makes. Also, the assistant makes the vocal sound sounding very thin and bad. Pulls out often over 6 Db of lows and adds the harshness frequencies over 5 Db. These bad settings happened when the update came and rap was added (early last year I believe) before this update the assistant did a far better job and it was the reason why I subscribed for the membership. But it can be that I am the only one experiencing this. In todays work flow I only use the unmask feature which is awesome. Maybe you can recalibrate the assistant for the future and hopefully add more options for classical artists/singers where the vocals have to stay very clean and honest compared to rap music or pop music. The rest of the plug ins that come with my membership are in my daly workflow and I love what they do. Again, some more presets for classical singers and orchestral classical instruments would be awesome :-)
I dont use vocals beyond using them as a texture. I use adlib loops and while loopcloud can change the key of its loops it isn’t perfect so i often submix my vocals and run them through an instance of Nectar. I’ll use the assistant and set the key so if the vocals still have some off notes, Nectar corrects them. As i always do with my Izotope plugins i get a great starting point and adjust to taste. I also sometime use spoken dialogue from old movies which always sound crappy, so Nectar comes in handy here too. I had no idea you could get the LA2A sound with this.I never knew about this as a mix process until last year and i stack two of the Arturia emulations to get the sound. Im working on a track now that has some adlibs so ill try using nectars compression this way instead of just using it to analyze and correct.
@@Mopsie assuming im reading this response 9 days later. ill just tell you yes, such a shame. not like I've spend $500 plus for Izotope Products, nope now we gotta pay for subscriptions
Thanks for so many fabulous series, Izotope. These are just great. A quick question about the Auto Level Mode (ALM) tip. It's said that ALM is set to a default target RMS of -8db but the Input Meter reading seems to be showing the peak hovering at -8db, not the average RMS level? I'm a little confused by that, and guess I'm misunderstanding something. Thanks for your input 🙂
@@LowKeyProductionz Pro is part of the subscription service suite of products. Anything with Pro in the name is just that. Auto updates and always the latest versions vs buying a specific version. I believe its like $200 a year, if you pay for the year upfront.
Cool. Now if I could only read the interface... Please implement proper modern UI scaling across all iZotope Products. It looks like you guys are already using vector interfaces... so what's the holdup?
The dynamic unmasking was not good for most applications. The variable unmasking was bothering me. I could hear the background music changing around the vocal. Static unmasking works much better for me. Any tips on using the dynamic mode?
Are these features available for the nectar 3 plus full owner version? If these features are only through subscription that will be so unfair because I don't do subscriptions and I rather buy them outright. I have invested so much money into this amazing company, but please don't disappoint me.
So for this to work you need to use the Nectar EQ on your vocals?...I cant use waves plugins for everything else and just Nectar to unmask the instrumental?...im having trouble doing that without the Nectar EQ on vocals for use...
2:00 this looks like a great new window i'd love to have, but there are a few things. Is Nectar Pro a new version/an upgrade of Nectar 3 Plus ?, IF Nectar Pro is Nectar 3 Plus is that certain window only for Mac or is it also in the Windows version. Another question the ''Enhance'' button at the start of the Mixing Assistant is that for Mac only too ? for me it simply says ''Assist'' it configures everything and asks me if i accept the settings the assist made, there is nothing to select such as Speaking,Rap,Singing neither a tone setting as Dark,Balanced,Bright or Airy. I am using Nectar 3 Plus the current version is 3.6.0 and im on Windows 10
i was wondering the same thing bro lmk if you know something i rlly wanna know why i dont have that new window in nectar and im an widows 11 was wondering if it was jus mac
@@chop_bosstrucking6381 Im pretty sure its mac only...i dont have it on windows 10 and neither any of my friends and since windows 11 is quite new i dont think its for that either
@@stckNsde bro I just got the neck to pro version and it is trash to the nectar advanced the way that the EQ works with the vocal assistant and everything is trash it doesn't sound good at all 🖖🏾💯
Neutron is an intelligent channel strip that shines on non-vocal mix elements like drums, guitar, bass and more. It can be used on individual tracks or sub groups.
Same here - Q: for Izotope: Are the 'Pro' products the same as 'Advanced' but just done by subscription instead of outright purchase, or are there feature differences?
10 Hidden Features you're SOL if you don't pay for the monthly subscription version of Nectar to get the "Pro" version. Eff you loyal patrons who've bought every upgrade for the past few years, you're not paying monthly or yearly, so no new features for you.
Nectar and Neutron do offer similar modules but Nectar is purpose-built for vocal processing with modules that do not exist for Neutron users such as De-Esser, Harmony, and Pitch as well as Assistive features like Vocal Assistant and Vocal Unmask.
So Nectar Pro is a dialogue specialized, standalone, program/plugin (a few bucks)... You have Relay, RX(x)... But Dialogue Match is only a Pro Tools (expensive) plug-in... Did anyone hear the mic drop? Do I need to explain the punch-line? OK [punchline]: Why is dialogue match not in Nectar Plus? Or... why is it not a relay plugin for Ozone? I really like your products.... I HATE iZotope Portal and your bundle/un-bundle BS. You pump eco-system (relay/Nectar/Ozone/RX), we buy into it... and then this... Excuse me if I don't get excited... Or buy it. My 10 cents.
You guys have made amazing plugins and software but I have to dislike this video because this is a kick in the teeth to those who have spent serious money on Perpetual licenses like myself. I sincerely hope you guys get your act together and make these features available to those who have bought the plugins outright, forcing people to do the subscription route to get features they should already have by regular updates within a certain version of the plug-in is outrageous. Because of this, it will be very unlikely for me to give you guys any more of my money. I cannot support this business practice
