I wish someone would make a cheaper device with the RGB30's screen but with good controls and no battery issue - doesn't even have to be that powerful, maybe PS1 and below would be fine.
I think Miyoo got lazy with this one. They are relying on their brand with the miyoo mini and plus and figured that Onion OS would pick up the slack for the software
Makes me wonder if its screen is darker for battery performance, or a firmware update will solve the brightness issue. I'll wait to hear more about it before considering.
@@kakibajs agreed but I think the original Miyoo or plus are both better options than this new one. I do want one as an upgrade from my original Bittboy and to that end this is a huge upgrade but compared to some other devices around the same price this thing isn’t that great.
I love the look of this grey one, but I need a stereo headphone jack, and the ability to play all systems without overclocking. Like many have said, put the guts of the 28xx in this body and you've got perfection.
unfortunately without OnionOS, the Miyoo devices are not special. What the onion team should do, in my opinion, is instead of supporting the Allwinner A33 here, they should do the H700 and bring OnionOS to the RG35XX, 35XX+, 35XX H, 28XX and the new 35XX SP. All of a sudden those handhelds would be basically the ultimate in value retro gaming
Gotta say the black one is nicer looking than the Famicom style one that has been in all the promos. Not that I don't like the Famicom style, the brushed metal front just looked a bit low quality
I just got one of these in the mail today. The included rom set is kind of lackluster but it's got some great games if you hunt through the list. I got it under $40 on Aliexpress and am overall quite pleased.
A shame. The A30 is definitely a better looking handheld, but they skimped too much on the screen and specs. Maybe they will release a plus model to fix it's flaws?
Ah mali 400. That takes me back. In 2016, me in 8th grade struggling to run pokemon black and white and god of war CoO and GoS on my mali 400 phone. Only tekken 6 is playable back then, only lagging when the background with the sheeps is used. To think this gpu used to be a flagship back in 2011 in the Galaxy note 1.
I really like the looks of the A30, but it seems a little underbaked. So, I hope a V2 will resolve some of its issues, namely at least adding stereo audio if not bluetooth true wireless stereo, a brighter screen, and a better battery. It's also unforunate that it can't play Dreamcast games well since it has the same controls as the original DC controller, tho I would really like a second joystick for playing PSX Armored Core games and for having the full inputs of a N64 controller. Then again, I ordered a Retroid Pocket 2S this week, so that's got me covered, but I still really want to get an A30 when it either gets some revised firmware or, better yet, revised hardware, because I think it looks really charming.
Reasons to buy this over the RG35xxH... Wearing slightly tighter pants?? lol honestly 3.5" screen is as small as it needs to get. What keebler elves are these handhelds made for?
I think miyoo might be a bit late to the market with this one. Subpar display is not the way to go in a very competitive market now. Theres just way too many other options for people.
They should've put just a touch more horsepower in it. Being able to run PS1 and PSP games at full speed wouldve helped. Otherwise who cares about the analog stick? The controls are wonky for N64. I wouldn't even try. Anything that uses the c or z buttons is basically unplayable.
What we want is a Miyoo Mini XL (extra large) . Because i already love my MM+ but i would definitely get a second one if i could have one with a screen 50% bigger WOW it would be amazing, especially with Onion OS. There is an MM, a MM+, so we need a MM+XL next
this device looks pretty nice but man that screen kills it out right plus i don't understand why are they making them that small for 5 years old kids i had one of these and couldn't play for more then 10min. gave it to a 4 years old kid he loves it of course
I've been waiting a long time for a handheld of this size with an analog stick. I wonder if it's more comparable to a Raspberry Pi3 or 4. So I wonder how well it can emulate the Amiga.
I am tired of all off these handhelds having the same power there is no new stuff since the retroid poker 4. And by buying them you are supporting them so we need to be more critical.
Straight up, hurt my feelings while I discovered that you couldn’t pick this up to play PSP I was wanting to play Harry Potter and some Star Wars battlefront but I know it probably would run like crap
Too small a screen for my old eyes but I get the small form factor appeal. Delta on my iPhone is currently scratching a retro itch and that’s is always in my pocket. Yes it’s not got buttons or sticks .
I’m way too late for making this comment but… I think there’s enough of this out there. And I’m not sure what this is supposed to offer, especially with such a nasty screen. I don’t understand how reviewers aren’t getting tired of using these.
Why, though? Most games this could potentially run won't need the second controller and having one (instead of none) really helps push those DC, N64, PSX and PSP games to a better experience, and keep the price low with a small form factor
On a powerful device I would agree with you but here… except for some psx games it’s a non issue. All others playable, sometimes barely, consoles having only one stick (n64, dc, psp) if not none 😅
I have the (horribly named) Anbernic RG35XX H and the second joystick just gets in the way. It’s why I clicked this video-this seems like a better layout tbh.
My issue is they cut a LOT of corners in terms of use and build quality. Usually indicates a companys downward spiral. But they COULD recover with whats coming.
That screen is just terrible. I was looking at the anbernic RG28xx but i really wanted a thumb stick for like.. n64 games. But this a30 is a bit underpowered and that screen is just soo bad.
I love the case but the cpu is underpowered compared to the Rg28xx. Also found the RG35xx H for around $52 on alie Epress. Would rather go for the 35xx h for the bigger screen size and analogue sticks. Its tsill pocketable enough
Hm, I think a used and then modded PS Vita is the better Choice here. I got mine for 120€, so yes, it costs more but got an OLED screen and the Haptic is great.
ISIS that really as bright as it goes? I can hardly see it. Too bad because it looks like such an awesome form factor. Why do all the gaming consoles always have that? One thing that stops me from getting into retro handhelds?
I plan to gift this to my 7 year old, how hard is it to install a bunch of games? Is there a "shortcut" to install a 30-50 game selection, and is the 128GB option enough for that?
You know, what is the point of releasing new handhelds after a SP style handheld is announced by the same company? Just freaking release the SP clone, I know the hinge is difficult, FIGURE IT OUT, lol, I'm holding out for that handheld.
