asian parents struggle with putting things in a nice way and while we understand that they only want the best for us, their harsh words still hurt alot. theres also this thing where the more they restrict us the more we become obssessed with that certain thing in adulthood.
This hits too close for me. I had hope that things would get better until as late as a few years ago. My home did not feel like a place I wanna be. I felt like walking on glass every day. Attempts to connect with them comes with harsh words. Attempts to express my feelings hurt them. Now I've got my own place, I feel much more free. It also traumatized me to never want kids.
man... that sucks she had to go through that. i hope she can get some closure and peace out of that trama. and it makes me appreciate my asian parents were pretty chill.
3:20 YES. then i feel bad that i made them feel bad but then sometimes i want them to know how bad they made me feel but then if i feel bad that that im making them feel bad and then not tell them anything because of that, i'll feel bad. ya know?
had this problem everyday, still going on... like "why can't you be like this, look at those kids, why can't you be like them, why are you so hard to understand this, did we raised you wrong, so pathetic, you don't need friends, I want you need to work so I want that payment for me.. etc" always had this quotes through out my life from mom, wanted to have friends but immediately shut down, wanted to do something also shut down, and 3 years ago I really just wanted to end it, and that time I found twitch and streamers... now I'm just completely ignoring mom, whatever she says I dun care and, with twitch and youtube I found very welcoming community that really changed my mind
You might think it sounds cool as a comeback, but with family, after you say that you can't just ghost them. You still meet them every day. They might hit you, they might hate you even more.
The constant physical and emotional abuse growing up really affected me. Then when you grow up they want to act like it all never happened. When you lay it out they just make up excuses and say that you should be grateful they raised you and shit.
