Arunachal is the Best and peaceful state except western side where NAGA are present. Many Northeast states don't wanna go with mainland at that time. Mainland tricked them and keep them poor in today also such that there are no many employment and industry. Main reason of insurrgency is india add these land with them unethically without their will and consent. If mainland don't occupy illegally these areas than insurrgency never happens in these states

I think from the perspective of protecting the national territorial integrity it was a right step. The situation must be dire and that's why harsh step was taken. Indira Gandhi may have lots of flaws but she was indeed iron lady of India.

Assam Rifles is just a central police force. Indian Army was not there directly. There was supply issue to Assam Rifles due to geographical location. That's why we made Pakistan army surrender with pant removal ceremony in Bangladesh 1971. 😂
Instead of waiting for the deployment of ground forces which might took several days it was very precise decision too protect the Assam Rifles GHQ Aizawl.... at any cost. It was part of the strategy to repel the rebels which comprised of mutinied soldiers of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles.

I gotta say, Indira Gandhi was a strong leader. Her approaches may have seen radical and I don't agree to a lot of brutal things she ordered the army to do, but she held India at the time when India was very vulnerable and underdeveloped and under-educated. Bjp has performed well in Nagaland, but I hope they could do well in Manipur too... Nehru was too weak and Indira was way too strong. Rajiv Gandhi was the perfect balance. He also conducted operation black thunder very nicely and did Mizo peace accord well too.

For the Govt to resort to the use of bombing, the insurgency must have been massive. I hope insurgency does not arise again in Mizoram or it will be massive again.

Maybe 1966 bombing was necessary to prevent making of a new country but the question is what led to 1966??? Was it not the Congress government who let the situation slip right out of hand, to the point that separatist became strong enough to capture armory and attack military headquarters. Was it not Congress which didn't intervene in famine there was no response from the center as well.
Every Govt. got their own pros and cons. You might be well aware of how Govt. tackled the Covid situation in the Nation. Without any proper planning Lockdown was imposed and millions of the Citizen were bound to walk to their own places. The present Govt. after being warned by Rahul Gandhi and when Covid cases were few Passengers from China in the initial stages being quarantined would have saved many. Again in the second wave Govt. allowed Kumbha Mela with the same pomp when Covid was in peak. What was the outcome? None can forget dead bodies floating in the Ganga and oxygen cylinder crisis. There are many cases where the present Govt. is a total failure whether it's the case of Manipur or China insurgency. Indira Gandhi's decision took 15 lives as claimed here but today Manipur's whole state is destroyed. House being burnt, people taking shelter in Camps. So, after being there with full power in the Govt. you think that diplomatically they are able to take the right situation? The previous Govt. were far better in taking at least strict decision in many front.
