Both Queen Sindel and King Jerrod's souls are absorbed by Ermac and many characters wonder what their fate is since they are trapped within his body. Ermac gives details about them in his intro dialogues.

It's so weird how Ermac talks like they can't give Sindel or Jerrod a moment to talk for a second. If the collective can get beaten down for others to take control, surely some souls within allied to the Edenians can push back opposition and say "Alright, take the wheel!"

Exactly. That's the part that is odd given that Ermac being weakened is what allowed Jerrod control in the first place in the story. So one has to wonder what the Collection pulled besides any help from Quan Chi to lock Jerrod and Sindel deep within so to speak.

I think it is more the idea that the souls that oppose them are from before their method of ruling. Thus find them lesser and wishes not to let them lead at all.

Yes, but then those opposed to the Edenians would push back and Ermac would be stuck in a stalemate. To prevent that, there'd need to be consensus.

Sounds like it, but he IS saying “Within Us” it’s just the way Ermac talks that makes it seem off, he takes a weird pause between With and In, besides “Within In Us” doesn’t make any sense in the first place

Honestly, with the new timeline, i like the reworks to character backstories. Makes a lot of characters more relatable and way better stories than typical bad/good guys. Ermac being "good" because he's not under Quan Chi's control, Baraka and Reptile being wayyyyyyy more drawn out characters instead of simple jobbers.
