Two of the greatest things happened to me in the 90's. 1. I met my wife, still together today...2021 2. We owned an XR2. Nothing will ever replace these memories. Thank you for reminding me.
I had the use of the MK 1 XR2 for a day back in the late 80s. As a 19 year old at the time I was well happy being given this to use in my job. Great fun.
I paid £250 for my mk1 xr2 in the same colour back in 2000. Had it for a few years then moved on. One of my best cars. Great video mate nice to see it on the road.
Still maintain it was the best car I ever owned ( in white ) ... engine out every six month because you could , upgraded everything ... even had blue tiger stripes at one point ! ( dont judge me... seemed a good idea at the time) Damn I miss her :( 80s were great times.
A tidy XR2- a few details to tidy up. Exhaust note & tyres suggest tweaked. The pepperpots need to go back on imo. Iconic piece of the XR2 look My Dad had one back in the mid 80’s in Sunburst Red.
@@allthekingshorses7178 you’re right there bud. I own my late fathers Series one RS turbo. There’s no better feeling than being behind the wheel on a dry sunny day. 👌
Thank you! That was awesome. I had a US version here in North Carolina in 1977. I occasionally dream I'm driving it. In this car I felt directly connected to both the machine and the road. It was a great autocross car -- better than Rabbits and Siroccos of that time.
loved my XR2 ... owned one of these around 1985 .. the handling was unreal on the P6's .. sadly the boy racer in me blew it one Sunday afternoon on the way back from the pub .. misjudged a corner with leaves ... it was toast :(
Pepperpots back on asap, otherwise lovely car. I was once offered a red one (my favourite Mk1 XR2 colour) but it was a ringer and I would not have enjoyed driving it due to the dodginess. This example looks mint and it appears to drive very well based on the clip. I'd love to have had one but I'm glad to say that sense prevailed back then and I will settle for having owned legit old minis and mk2 escorts.
love these retro hot hatches ,my mate had one of these in black 😳I had a lancia delta hf turbo ie ,and once I thrashed all the hot hatches everyone wanted the lancia hf 🤣🐑🏴
I had a white xr2 MK1 and it was tuned and had a chunky cam and it was the best fun car I've ever owned, the handling of it was superb but unfortunately it was stolen and I replaced it with a 205 GTi and it was not as good as the xr2. LMW 745X.
7 spoke alloys belonged to the mk3 escort rs. I dont think they were ever an option on the mk1 xr2!! Mk1 xr2,s came with pepper pot alloys. Back in the day the offer of 7 spoke rs alloys instead of pepper pots never happened??
£30 Grand is a BARGAIN. One of the VERY BEST Looking cars Ever Made. The Mk1 XR2 is All the Cae Anyone Ever Wanted or Needed. I Drive a BMW e34 525i SE Manual. Old BMW's Have the Risk of Failing an M O T. in the UK due to a Bulb or worn Wiper Blade or Tyres or Worn Discs / Pads & occasional Brake Line Corrosion. &Maybe Corroded Fuel Pipes around the Tank ? Who Else has a 1995 Car still in Daily USE M O T 'd Every Year & Running 27 Years old in April 2022. & Still BLASTS AWAY & Running 100% as it left the Factory?? 140 is as Calm & Smooth & silent as 40 Mph. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. Just the Scenery Passes by Slightly Quicker at 140 Mph. Car Sits Glued to the Road Smooth & Stable. A Passenger would ~Have NO CLUE of Speed 60 mph or 140 mph. My only Clue of Speed is the Needle & scenery. You Just Need to be THREE TIMES MORE ALERT than travelling at 60 mph. In a Mint Perfect Car. ON A GERMAN AUTOBHAN of Course !! UK is Limited to 70Mph.
Not the original wheels or the correct brand of tyres sadly, and I'm sure the door mirrors would be black from factory. ... The car weighs 800 K G's .... what would that be in Kilograms ? ... Would a Ford dealer have fitted those silver self tapper screws on the rear number plate. .. The test drive was crashy and bangy.
IF I Won the Lottery / Had a Vast Budget for a Car ? I Would Own As Many Mk1 XR2's / Mk1 Fiesta's as i could Buy & Store. I LOVE Them. If I Had £40k to Spend, I would Buy a Fiesta 1.3 GHIA . or XR2.
