In this video, I am changing the front brakes: pads, rotors, and I’m also upgrading to stainless steel brake hoses. I decided to go with Ferodo pads, Zimmerman rotors, and StopTech brake hoses. I’ll also show you how I decided to deal with installing brake pads that do not have the wear sensor that would plug into the harness on the passenger side.

Seriously dude. The quality of your vids, the cuts, the commentary. Perfect. No asks for likes and subscribes, but I’m liking and subscribing! Really good job - I feel like I’m there with you and everything is just going great, like how you imagine a jobs gonna be.

Note that a normal 17mm spanner is too thick to fit on the retaining bolts for the slider pins. You need a very thin spanner

Some people say you should open the bleeder when pushing the caliper piston back in so that the abs valves do not get damaged. I have always done it your way without fail but could be we are doing it wrong… :)

Enjoyed the vid. A couple of things I do when doing brakes is to use an old brake pad to let the C clamp push against while pushing the caliper piston in. As not to damage the piston. Also, if the brake reservoir is full, retracting the caliper pistons may overflow the reservoir. It makes a big mess. Been there, done that. Enjoy the new brakes .

Thanks for the comment. I do the same with the old brake pad when I can’t get the screw side of the c-clamp inside the piston. It’s definitely better than buggering up the edge, but in this case the risk is mitigated by pushing from inside the piston rather than an edge! ;-) Agreed 💯 on the brake fluid overflow, which is why I made sure to mention it in the beginning. That’s a mess that nobody wants to clean up! Haha

Thanks CPO, great content and really liking your clear post production audio. The passenger side brake line routing on my 23 mk8 GTI is over the sensor wires, not under. I'm doubtful brake line to sensor wire contact is correct and I can send you a photo of you'd like. Again, great content!

Thank you for the tutorial, Will definitely be using the tutorials In the future. what size wheels are you running btw?

Would it be worth it to upgrade the calipers to like the macan 4 pots or is the pads and rotor enough stopping power for the occasional track day/canyon runs? Also awesome video and extremely detailed.

What’s the expanding ratchet you use at 5:36? Never seen that but pretty smart

Thank you for this video. What do you call that "pin" you were using to hold the wheel while you were taking it off?
@EVERYTHINGcpo

It’s a wheel hanger alignment pin. It’s worth every penny! amzn.to/3JsTs6E

Is it normal for my pads to move up and down in the calipar? I’m hearing clunks on small bumps only when I’m off the brake so I’m wondering if it’s this..

workshop installed brembo pads on my golf R, and they shift like hell when there is a bump in the street. Anyone has experience how to resolve this issue?

So no reason to pull, clean, and regrease the caliper pins? I've done this on every other brake job I've done but does VW say not to open the boot for some reason? Just seems odd not to regrease the pins.

Just curious I always put grease on the back of the pads to help with noise... Are you having any problems with then now
@EVERYTHINGcpo
@EVERYTHINGcpo 2 года назад
Yeah. A slight squeak. These are expected to be noisy, but when I am going to do my next tire rotation, I’ll grease the pads and see if that makes any difference.

i just installed the zimmerman rotors and they are making a horrible grinding sound, did yours do that?

Why put new hoses? I am sure the ones you removed are perfectly fine.
@EVERYTHINGcpo
@EVERYTHINGcpo 2 года назад
Stainless steel hoses allow for less flex in the system than rubber hoses, allowing for higher and more consistent pressure when the brake pedal is depressed.
