if players can get fined for calling out bad calls, umpires that give egregiously bad calls deserve to forfeit their pay for the day and be suspended. fairs fair...
I don't believe any manager or player has EVER convinced an umpire to change his ruling, so why do they insist on trying? They have been doing it for decades and it seems more often than not, they get ejected.
Coaches get ejected to show they are sticking up for their player it’s all theatrics. However players do not try to plea with the umps they just finally say what they wanna say.
Get a computer vision system calling balls and strikes already! Give each team a screen in the dugout to see what the pitch location was after the at bat or inning is finished, and the vast majority of ejections would be gone.
yeah, because he can't tell where the bleeping strike zone is. He ejected Harper for being right once. My cat has better depth perception than Angel Hernandez! Heck, a blind squirrel has better depth perception!!
Angel Herendez was the homeplate ump in the Schwarber ejection..he has no clue where the strike zone is. He ejected Harper during a Phillies game this year in late September because Harper was CORRECT THAT IT WAS A BALL. It was called as a strike..
The MLB umpires have become a joke with way too much power and authority. What needs to happen is one of two things. Every time an umpire ejects a player, the play must come under review. If the ejection is not deemed necessary, then the umpire in question must be suspended for a period of no less than two games, without pay, and be fined for each overturned ejection. The next event that needs to happen is when a team is targeted for ejection by the umpires, have the whole team walk off and refuse to resume the game until the umpire in question is replaced by a substitute, or until the call in question is reviewed and overturned if the ejection is determined to be unwarranted. Unfortunately what will most likely happen is a player or coach or manager will finally lose their temper and physically attack an umpire and give them the beatdown they truly deserve. The umpires union will then refuse to officiate any further games until the players are forced to apologize and pay heavy restitution. Either that or they will go on strike to demand that they be given ultimate authority over every aspect of the game, at which time MLB will automatically accept the resignation of every major league umpire and replace them either with umpires who don't let their egos control their actions and reactions, or replace them with cameras and computers (God forbid). The biggest problem in MLB is the massive egos of the players are being upstaged by the equally massive egos of the umpires. Both players and umpires need to be treated like the spoiled brats they are and have their asses whooped until they can't sit down for a week. Figuratively speaking, of course.
I side with the umpires 99% of the time they are abused by players and coaches all the time so their power is well deserved where I don’t agree is when the first base or second base ump over rule a call at home plate if you are the umpire for first base that’s your job if you’re there for second base, that’s your job you don’t worry about home plate and you don’t rule on home plate. That’s the umpire at home plates job not yours, so stay in your
This is why I hate to watch baseball, it's because the umpires and Refs have too much power to throw people out of a game over some stupid thing they don't like! We all know that umpires and referees can be bought! All sports are too monitized these days! It's amazing to me how much these athletes make, yet military personnel that go to foreign lands and fight in wars to defend our country and come home and get nothing, well these athletes make millions of dollars! Our country is messed up big-time! Our priorities are all in the wrong places!
