...Life can be cruel and unfair sometimes. When life was great, #41 was blowing them away and epitomized the phrase "The Franchise". A pitching artist !!
Tom Seaver was my Idol growing up and an Ambassador of Baseball. Always a Gentleman, Always showed Honesty and Integrity, Tom Seaver was always a CLASS ACT.
I remember the 1969 World Series win. I was 13 at the time. People laughed at me when I became a Met fan before Seaver came on but I had the last laugh. Tom will be missed. You made this Queens boy very happy and my favorite ball player of all time.
Outside of Baltimore, ALL of America was rooting for those Amazin', Seaver-led Mets in the '69 World Series - which was NEVER in doubt by the way, as the Mets defined what it means to be A TEAM OF DESTINY. (And I say this as a Red Sox fan, as the 1967 Sox remain the first and ONLY team in MLB history to rise from 9th place to league champions. Every dog has his day, right? We Sox fans can partially thank the NY Yankees for our's in 2004!)
Compared to the long-haired tattooed freaks pitching today Tom Seaver was truly Chairman of the Board even more so than Whitey Ford was in his day. RIP for sure Tom Terrific.
