Honestly though its what makes GKR such a great announce team. Its not that they are homers, its they love the game of baseball and calls out thengood and bad on both sides
I would rather have an outfielder throw the ball to the infield after catching the the third out rather than that one play where there were only two outs and the right fielder threw the ball into the stands.
Last one was the umpires not knowing the rule right? I’m assuming Holliday just wasn’t looking and thought Moreland had already stepped on 1st before he threw to 2nd
No. It's Holliday that didn't know the rule. It wasn't a catch so he had no real reason to go back to 1st base. You can't return to the base unless it was a catch and since it wasn't a catch, Holliday was already out when Moreland threw it to second.
@@blee7442 If Moreland stepped on 1st and got the batter out before throwing to 2nd, that would've eliminated the force at 2nd and Holliday could've safely gone back to 1st. Which is what I said above
But Holliday only THOUGHT Moreland had touched 1st, which is why he went back despite being out already. Then the umpires didn't call interference on him or anything which is why I suggested it was the umpires that didn't know the rule
@@TyrannoJoris_Rex I can see that although, I'm not sure why Holliday would think that Moreland would head for the first base first. Cause unless he was NEXT to the bag, 9 times out of 10 they'll go for the throw at second first instead of the batter.
I guess I don't know the rules. They say infield fly rule, but the guy was in the outfield when he caught it. Oh well. Rangers finally got a ring. Now they'll trade away all the good players and end up in the cellar.
The infield fly rule states that the batter is automatically out on a pop-up that an infielder can catch with ordinary effort. It does not matter where the infielder catches it (or fails to catch it). The rule says nothing about where the ball is intended to be caught. If the infielder had been stationed deep in the outfield (which was unlikely before, and certainly impossible now due to the defensive shift restrictions), it would still have been an infield fly.
WTF is (Giants play-by-play man) John Miller talking about with "I don't think anybody on the FIELD knew the rule!" @0:56 or "Neifi Perez had come down the line, HIMSELF apparently not knowing the rule" @1:26? That's ridiculous-Perez (#1 for the Giants) obviously DID understand the rule, and understood that he had not been forced out at the plate; otherwise he wouldn't have sneaked around the four Expos and touched home! If he didn't know the rule, he wouldn't have scored. The way that he, after scoring, immediately pointed at the home-plate ump and then pumped his fist when he got the "safe" call demonstrated that he knew what he was doing, too. Nonsensical insult from Miller toward Perez.
You don't have to go aggro on every little thing. It's possible he said the wrong name by accident and it's possible he thought Perez didn't know the rule because he stopped for a bit. No one's perfect and it's not an insult.
Jon Miller was 100% correct. Neifi Perez clearly did not know the rule. If he did, he would have stayed at third base. In fact, Perez screwed up first by going home. He was only vindicated by the Expos players also screwing up and not knowing they had to tag him and not the plate due to the infield fly rule.
Correct, Neifi did not know the rule. He was gonna be out by a mile if they knew the rule, and then he stood there waiting to get tagged for several seconds. Obvioispy he stepped on the playe either after being screamed at by his teammates or by seeing the umpire not call him out. He didn't know the rule, and it was obvious.

Given that you have just been shown EXPOS *THIRD BASEMAN* FERNANDO TATIS picking the ball up off the infield grass and stepping on home plate, exactly how do you propose Tatis could have thrown out Perez at third base? Would Tatis have thrown it to himself? Would he have thrown it to shortstop Orlando Cabrera... who we can also see in the video covering SECOND base? Have you decided (without any evidence in the video whatsoever) that Ron Calloway or Endy Chávez ran in from the outfield to cover third? You've also ignored the points I made in the previous comment: why in the world would a rule-ignorant Perez have tiptoed around Tatis and his teammates to touch the plate if he thought he'd already been forced out? How is it not utterly obvious from his body language upon touching the plate that he knew perfectly well that he'd scored? The level of blind stupidity among RU-vid commenters is staggering to behold.
