Fox's Theme for their presentation of MLB Games. Includes 2 themes, one from the late 90's to mid 2000's and the other while started as the NFL theme, now runs for the MLB as well since mid 2000.
The first theme is best suited for a close game between two powerhouse teams. But there's something really special about hearing the NFL one as the pitcher walks off the mound after a dominant inning during the postseason.
Each sport originally had its own respective themes. In 2007, MLB and NASCAR got updated themes. In 2010, it was decided to use the NFL theme for all three sports. Since the next NASCAR season started in 2011, it was held back until then for that sport. In 2016, the staff concluded the theme didn't fit well with racing and brought back the original theme. But the reason why the MLB theme was brought back in 2020 was due to fan complaints. Now each sport has its own respective themes again.
To be honest, Fox needs to designate the NFL theme for Nascar's "crown jewel" races like Daytona, Talladega, and Charlotte. The other races can have their own song in my opinion
Many sports already had their respective themes. College Football was formerly on the NFL Theme, then switched to its own unique theme due to complaints-ironic as people were complaining about a football theme being used for football. PBB (Bowling) had its own theme, FOX Soccer has its own theme, NHRA (drag racing) has its own theme, hell WWE doesn't use the NFL theme.
Old theme is superior in every way. Gets you more pumped up, has more of a big game feel to it (I associate the other theme with any lame fall Sunday), is unique to baseball, and better fits a pitcher walking off the mound after dominating an inning.
Can’t wait to hear this when baseball returns this season! It’s gunna be a good year for the dodgers!! Now that we have Freddie Freeman! Our power rankings couldn’t be any more higher! looking forward to this season! LETS GO DODGERS!!
Alright Thank You Kevin. Welcome to Baseball Night in America and Welcome to Angels Stadium. The Chicago White Sox Take on Mike Trout and the Rest of the Los Angeles Angels here on Fox. Welcome inside the Broadcast Booth. I’m Joe Buck along with the Hall of Famer John Smoltez.
The NFL theme fits the NFL and old theme is perfect for baseball. The NFL theme has the sound of “it’s a beautiful day here in Denver not a cloud in the sky as the Broncos prepare to kick off to the 49ers...it’s an opening theme.... the old theme goes perfect with MLB score updates across AL and NL after say bottom of the 5th
1:28 "hello it is tine for game 6 of the world series, the dodgers take on the Tampa Bay Ray's, the fans are loving it dodgers are looking for their 7th world series trophy in their franchises, hi im Joe Buck and Matt Vasgersian" you love to hear it
Omgpop34 Amen to that! I hate how Joe Buck casually calls games over the regular season and then he's anointed with calling the entire postseason. Would love to hear the dulcet tones of Jon Miller on television again. He's been virtually made redundant on Giants radio in recent time.
Wow, This is awesome. I discovered this because I was looking for the FOX NFL theme and saw a comment about how they wish they would bring back the Old FOX MLB theme so I got curious and damn... why did they replace the original? This is perfect for Baseball. Use the NFL theme for the NFL, not both MLB and NFL
1:28 “Away we go it’s game number five on a Sunday night at Wrigley Field the 89th and final home game for the Cubs at Wrigley for the entire 2016 season”
I honestly love both themes... just LEGEND. But my favorite sport is baseball and I get a crazy chill down my spine every year on opening day when I first hear the MLB theme. Such simple pleasures make life worth living! ❤️
The first one is nostalgic. Growing up in the 90s and 00s, I always looked forward to Saturdays cause it was, at the time, earlier games before they switched them to 4. Watching my Braves on Fox almost every other Saturday afternoon with my dad and brother are memories I will always cherish forever
Welcome to Baseball Night In America. It’s a nice night for baseball at Angels Stadium of Anaheim, as the Los Angeles Angels take on the Chicago White Sox in game 3 of a 4 game set.
The NFL theme needs to stay with the NFL and the other needs to be the full time Fox Sports theme. The teams that have Fox Sports (ex Fox Sports Cincinnati) run the baseball theme. Wake up Fox Sports!
sportshistorian I'm not gonna lie, I love the old theme and it brings back memories of when me and my old man would watch some postseason baseball, but them using the NFL theme isn't horrible, it actually gets me pumped up for 1st pitch :)
Remember this theme when baseball used to come on in the late 90’s and early 2000’s… showed the players warming up, aerial view of the field and brief commentary.. theme song alone geared you up to watch the game… memories
I'm so sad I can't hear this song anymore on FSN broadcasts anymore, now that Bally Sports is here, RIP to this theme song on FSN broadcasts but you can still hear it on FOX and FS1 broadcasts.
I used to sit in my backyard with my family with the TV on, a fire going and we would roast smores watching baseball, best experience of my life sports wise
The first one always makes me nostalgic of watching baseball on what used to be Fox Sports and hearing the end of it as the channel went to a commercial break. Like sharpdressedcat said, It would always be so nostalgic to see a pitcher walking off the mound to the dugout and hear the end of the theme right before commercials.
1998! First time ever hearing this!! Couldn’t get enough of it but my Sox got bumped in the first round but the next year when Pedro was in his prime going up against that powerful cleveland lineup! I remember being so stoked for that series with this theme playing and seeing Pedro with his game face on 😂 thinking “let’s get these MFers back!” 😂 miss my childhood!!!
"Welcome to game 7 of the 2016 world series a world series that features the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians tied at 3 games a piece. Welcome to the broadcast booth I'm Joe Buck."
The first one reminds me of random NL Central battles with a 1pm start at the beginning of the summer, while the second one is an NFL Game of the Week at 4:25pm in October after the Bengals got blown out back in 2018 lol
I wish Fox would go back to the "revamped" version of the MLB theme (FS1 uses in the regular season). The "football" theme is used for baseball, football, NASCAR and boxing. It is 24 years old.
The older one makes me think of when I was a kid and I had just showered and I was in my pajamas getting ready to watch playoff baseball. It’s so nostalgic I’m glad it’s back!
