I feel like with Ryan's B answer, once he said Bobcat, Jolly should have responded with "Can you be more specific" because Bobcat isn't entirely wrong, but obviously not the answer they were looking for.

I’m team Ryan here. When he said Bobcat, he probably saw the look on your face and expanded the answer to the full name before anyone said it. I think instead of saying “no,” Jolly should have just stayed silent to see if he would include the whole name on his own (which he did anyway) just like when Dalton said “home… (pause) home field.”

The home vs home field isn't the same cuz just saying home is technically correct it just sounds very awkward. It's like being cut off mid sentence when you've already answered the question

The whole question was broken. The actual name is "D. BAXTER". The mascots "title" or recognized moniker is "D. BAXTER THE BOBCAT". In that case, "bobcat" is part of the *epithet* "the bobcat" which is not the "*name*" of the mascot. The name of the D-backs mascot does not start with a B! If anything the question should have read "what is the LAST name of the mascot" which Ryan could not POSSIBLY have confused. Case closed lol

It would have been one thing if he had tried to correct himself after knowing he was wrong, but he literally said “bobcat, Baxter the bobcat” in one breath. People start with a players first name when the answer is the last all the time and it’s counted; this was no different.

Everyone keeps saying his name is Baxter not Bobcat. THAT ISN’T TRUE! His name is “Baxter the Bobcat.” Both words are equally part of his name and both start with B, Ryan clearly knew exactly who he was talking about. If he asked for the Dodgers first baseman Freddie and Freeman would both be correct. Plus, since so many people want to be so stingy, his name starts with a D so the question was wrong.

if i asked “who described gravity and inertia?” and was looking for Sir Isaac Newton, Sir and Newton are equally his name but that doesn’t mean i would accept Sir like i would newton. you also wouldn’t ask Mr. Johnson what his son is named and expect the response to be “Johnson” even if Johnson is part of his sons name technically
