I have a lot to say so lets get started!, im gonna talk on my ideas for the changelings cuz when you really look at her i only made a few changes really XD and all of them can be explained through my changeling lore (AU stuff), so in my AU changelings are made by sombra as his loyal army (instead of the mind control helmets he has?) he made them with bugs and the crystal pieces of the crystal heart, this way they were entirely sustained by the crystal heart and later evolved to give them the ability to drain love from their prey, crysalis was the first and the leader/organizer of the rest, sombras right hand as they say, the changelings are split into three types : drones, spies, guards and each has a general aka the one who gives the orders to their group from the queen and leads said group usually, the drones work the hive and care for the babies sometimes leaving the hive to get resources to reinforce the hive, spies infiltrate new places to secure new food for the hive and guards well guard the hive and queen
Guards are larger typically with large wings as a distraction mechanism for they’re enemies, drones are small with smaller wings usually and have much less armour, they’re shapeshifting is limited to mostly objects and small animals while guards specialize in large creatures but cant form into objects, spies can shift into anything and have minimal armour , they specialize in mimicry so it comes naturally, as the changelings were born/made in a cold environment they originally had fluff on they’re bodies and as a result of that the babies are still born with fluff (like a moth) but as they’re environment was different later they physically adapted for warmer weather meaning they lost they’re fur (some still have a little fur but unless they are in a cold climate they wont have much)
When the crystal empire fell with Sombra, chrysalis escaped with most of the changelings except a group of changeling spies who didn’t make it out in time (the general thorax and the spies he tried to save, they got banished with the empire) chrysalis swore vengeance on the ponies for what they did, the changelings traits are somewhat steady and based on type with a few exceptions once they’re reformed, changelings have versatile bodies so they are able to have many different features if they wanted after birth but in the hive under crysalis’s rule it was a sign of unity and pride to look like they’re group/type so very few of them had other traits that weren’t assigned to they’re group, crysalis has pincers and little bulb ended whiskers, pincers typically are a guard feature and whiskers are a drone feature as they glow in the dark which is useful for building up hives and baby rearing, horns are a rare thing that any type could have and is a sign of high magically prowess, typically changelings can only do shapeshifting magic and other basic spells but usually the ones with horns can do many more types of difficult spells, crysalis is the exception to this as she is magically gifted while not having horns, without the heart to sustain them they had to learn to drain magic from other creatures (love) but it was never enough, constant food from the crystal heart was lost and without it it left them constantly hungry resulting in they’re outer body decaying (having holes) with only they’re base crystal that they are made from to keep them from completely falling apart, leaders/the royal type have they’re crystal exposed and it is usually larger then average (if fed enough the crystal can strengthen and become bigger but usually it reverts to a smaller size if food is scarce)
I ended up making her very tall with a more “hair like” hair on her tail and head, put her hair up and generally tried to make her look more armoured with larger wings (since i based they’re wings on butterfly wings) they can have more legs btw but I couldn’t visually get that to work in my current design, typically i think drones would have more legs and maybe the guards, ill talk more about the redeemed changelings when i post my thorax redesign (his king redesign, still working on his base form before being king atm and pharynx ^^)
