I'm in my mid 20s and absolutely love wearing 阿婆衫. I live in Toronto and have to go to a second hand store in my neighborhood (we have lots of HK ppl) to find these. My favorite blouse was one I took from my grandma's closet 😂 They're excellent for the summer heat 👍🏻
Next time I am in HK. I shall go and have a look. Will save this one. Cos.. I know that those places are kind of gone. Didn't realise that, the whole thing is supposed to be reflecting that "Tang dressing" style... Reminds me of ... like academics from Shanghai or something. The cheung sam also looks odd.. but.... didn't realise that there is the trousers... AND a top skirt to go with it too. Now... I get there used to be so many short white socks for ladies as well. I never used to liked wearing those, cos it always falls off. lol.... in the UK, the school uniform requires you to have long socks. So I remember those shorter ones which was supposed to be for sports, always comes off. So it isn't good for sports. Didn't realise that, it was a shortage issue as well for those periods. And people were more demure and walked, and didn't play as much sports. Fascinating... I saw some of those "sleeping gears"... which is...I think it is sold as "sleep wear" in the UK too. And not as an actual..."tang dress".... lol... But I love those lovely patterns... in the UK, it is a popular brand that kept those patterns. "Cath Kidson's"... revised the old patterns, they bought them out... cos it was sold as part of a kitsche homely style. It's so popular here. I really did not know that, it is not a sleeping clothing... LOL.....This is soooo surreal.... I think I am having an existential crisis moment. lol...
Well, you need to check out cities like Dallas, Palm Beach, Paris, Milan or Florence. Most of the senior citizens in those cities who love to dress up in very bright colors for all kinda occasions. Some of them even look pretty stylish and stand out from the crowd.
