This soap and pre-shave was sent to me for review, but I insisted on paying shipping. This artisan is based in Scotland and shipments across the pond are 𝘯𝘰𝘵 cheap.
MMGP is a company that got its start in Russia but then moved to Scotland. The owner, Graham, is a stellar gent with a ton of personality and know-how in the hobby. I was elated when he asked me to try his stuff. I absolutely love his fox labels!
"𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘵 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴" is an homage to Bois du Portugal by Creed. It is a slightly powdery, almost Barbershop scent. I've never smelled the cologne, but I love the soap scent. The pre-shave oil was a very pleasant start to the shave; I WILL be using this stuff a lot.
I like to use a straight to take a new soap for a spin and I'll put it plainly: this is a vegan base I would put up against tallow. It is utterly fantastic. The cushion was through the roof, the slickness was top-tier and the post-shave is out of this world. I promptly messaged Graham and said he will do well in the States.
He is currently working on a splash formulation that we will see soon. He is also in talks with a few U.S.- based retailers so that we will get to see his products over here. Even so, I would urge you to consider paying the extra postage to try this soap. It is worth it, period. I will be ordering more.
Scent Notes: Cedar, Sandalwood, Lavender, Bergamot, maybe Amber, Vetiver
