Hey guys, here's a common question that can be asked in follow-up to 'why medicine'! It can be daunting to answer a question like this but, as I outline in this video, it's not as bad when you reframe it in your head ;)

@@hannahbourner7866 I am actually from Australia and I am practicing for my upcoming mmi interviews. Is it possible you could give me some tips when answering this question: Should medical students be held to a higher ethical standard than students in other fields of study? Thanks

@@feifei2572 amazing! Best of luck with your application :) In response to your question I’d say in someways, yes, because there is a certain level of professionalism required as a medical student as we represent the NHS. Patients and even friends see us as future doctors and it’s important we are role models for this. So, it’s important to be sensible and maintain professionalism when it comes to e.g. the use of social media etc. because (as you can imagine) it can create a negative perception of future doctors if inappropriate content is posted etc. It can be detrimental if a negative image is painted for future doctors as we lead a significant role in people’s healthcare which can involve life and death situations. Those who may lose trust in us may be less likely to seek help which will create a problem for not only the image of future doctors but, perhaps more importantly, their future health. Hope this helps :)
